12.2 The Song of the Lamb

And they were singing… the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and wonderful are Your works, Lord God, the All-Holding, All-Carrying One! …for Your righteous acts have been made visible and clear (Revelation 15:3-4 – condensed).
John’s vision is a prophetic word. That means we do not use it as a stand-alone word, but rather, the metaphors of John’s vision serve as a confirmation of the apostolic words spoken by Paul and John, especially. These words in John’s vision give us a picture of this harmony of knowing that we enter into with the words of our Father coming into us through the good speaking of Jesus.
This is a Song we learn to sing, but it is a Song we sing NOW!
The Song in Father. At the very Heart of Father is a Song; Jesus is the singing of that Song becoming us and we are its sounds. We are the expression of Father heard as all creation sings together.
Yet every created being is free of God to sing their own song, to turn away from themselves coming out from Father, and to strike their own discordant notes contrary to themselves. This one knows that the song is no longer true to themselves, so they go searching for their “true” song, even while refusing to accept Father’s Song. In fact, they blame God for their own discord. This action always results, then, in exaltation of self and contempt for others.
The Energeia of Fire. The singing of a song is a powerful metaphor, and even more than a metaphor, for God is always singing. We want to include, here, another, similar metaphor, that of fire, the energeia of fire. Another word for the energeia of fire is LIFE!
You see, the problem isn’t any human singing their own song in the present moment, for our song in every present moment IS the Sound of Father. Any human who refuses to accept their limited notes as the Sound of Father singing them, must reach for something else in order to produce their own version of discord. That something else is human energeia, or strange fire.
Strange Fire. Human energeia is strange fire; it is the human way against God, preventing Him from being known through us at every point. Human energeia finds sufficiency in one’s self, some ability to “hear and obey.” Human energeia creates all the masks of performance.
Here is one clear distinction. God energeia inside of us says, “God choses me.” Human energeia attempts to add a discordant note, however – “God chooses me because…” “God chooses me because” sounds “holy,” it’s just the singing of a different song based on a “fire” that doesn't actually exist. Human energeia is imagination only. You cannot “put it to death,” for it does not exist. Attempting to put to death something that does not exist is another word for insanity.
You ARE God Singing. What you ARE, in all the human you, IS God singing. You sing with Him only as you are confident that God IS and that His Song through you blessing others IS your reward. Our confidence is based on God-Fire, that is, God-Energeia, and that God-Fire is inside of us. When we say that Father is the Song, Jesus the Singing, and we the sounds, we are not speaking of “God faraway,” but of the One who fills us with ALL that He is.
Let’s run through some of the God-Fire-in-us statements of the gospel. Our confidence stands upon absolute firmness. – Being filled with all the fullness of God – able to do exceedingly abundantly more – according to the power energeoing inside of us (Ephesians 3:19-20).
Hearing with Faith. Listen, the One continuously and lavishly supplying the Spirit to you, and continuously and actively energeoing the effects of power [miracles] inside of and among you, is it out of works of law or out of hearing with faith? (Galatians 3:5). “Works of law” is another word for human energeia, attempting to sing a “correct song” completely on one’s own, out from the human intellect. “Hearing with faith” is our confident connection to God IS – singing (Jesus) as us.
Another word for God-Energeia is “age-unfolding Life.” And this is – God Energeia inside of you – to know Father and to know Jesus Sent (the Singing of God) (John 17:3 – adapted).
God Energeoes. God energeoes all inside of all (1 Corinthians 12:6). – God-IS energeoing all down to the finest details of the counsel and deliberate wisdom arising out of His desire (Ephesians 1:11). – Fully accomplish your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who energeoes inside of you both to will and to energeo for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:12-13).
The surpassing greatness of His power penetrating with purpose into us, we who are actively believing out from the energeia of His mighty and absolute strength which He energeoed inside of Christ, having awakened and raised Him out from the dead (Ephesians 1:19-20).
Loving God-Energeia. Uh – yeah! God wants us to KNOW that God IS all the energeia of our lives energeoing inside of us – and there is no other. Humans cannot “create” their own energeia; all they can do is imagine it. And Christian imagining his own energeia – “All that the Lord says I will do!” – is the saddest song of all.
This is what Jesus means. – The one who loves more his soul [his own song, his story of self, his imagined energeia] loses it, and the one who loves less his soul [his song of “me”] inside this world, he will keep and protect it into age-unfolding life [into God-Energeia] (John 12:25). You cannot stop being the human sounds of God’s Song. But you CAN sing with God. And that is all that God desires of you.
Accepting our Humanity. We sing with God only as we accept that our humanity is the sound of God inside of creation. And we can accept such a thing only as we KNOW that Jesus lives and sings inside our hearts. The moment we think, “But, I,” we have pulled ourselves away from confidence that God-IS and are now imagining our own discordant song.
Look at yourself in all your silly human-ness, in all your ups and downs, in all your everyday choices – you are the sounds of Christ Jesus singing God’s Song inside of you. When you accept that you ARE, you have become just like Jesus who never once thought, “But, I,” but rather KNEW that Father energeoed all inside of Him.
The Word of Our Witness. And then we discover that not only is the Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, singing all that is our hearts (2 Corinthians 3:3), but He is also inside our mouth (Romans 10:8). Thus the “word of our witness” (Revelation 12:11) is the Singing of Christ in our mouth, singing Christ personal as us.
Do you wish to sing the Song of the Lamb? Then take your red-letter New Testament and sing the red-printed words of Jesus as He is the only life you are. Sing those words as yourself, for those words ARE you, in just the same way that they ARE Jesus. You are the Energeia of God; you are the tip-point of His Fire inside of creation.
Rejecting the False Song. God made us just like Himself, that is, we cannot ever stop speaking, for we are the singing of God. We cannot “stop” one song in order to sing another. The only way the false song of the serpent can cease inside our imagination is if we sing a New Song first and now, regardless of any outward appearance and without the slightest concern over any seemingly discordant notes.
Every single element in the agreement between Adam and the serpent, in all their ideas and motivations, every part of it is meaningless nonsense and utterly pointless. No one has any reason whatsoever to give heed to that fake singing. We have simply closed our ears to it, for we ARE the singing of the only Song that is real.
A Perfect Symphony. Place yourself in the perfect spot inside a great auditorium towards which the sounds of the orchestra are directed. Place yourself inside the music of the greatest performance of song ever envisioned.
Why do people love such a thing? Why are we so deeply moved?
Every nuance of sound, every harmony together, every beat of rhythm, every trill of melody seems to go all through us as part of our own souls. We sit there filled with the music BECAUSE we ARE filled with God. We are not looking for a different song. Whatever one’s taste in music might be, humans are enthralled with that moment of being one with, in tune with, harmonizing with the singing of the spheres.
Two Songs as One. We are speaking of the Song of the Lamb, and that Song is human. – And the Word, the Singing of the Song, became flesh and dwelt among us and we listened to His Singing of Father, filled with God-Energeia and filled with honesty such that He imagined no energeia of His own (John 1:14 – adapted).
The only Singing of the Song that is Father is our human song merged with Christ and His Song merged with ours. Christ as “other” forces us to try to be “other” and all such false fire has done for us is make us to be little devils. God’s Desire is for us to accept that our human song IS His Energeia inside of us, and then to sing as Christ Jesus sings.
A New Song. What happens, then, as you and I sing the Words of Christ Jesus as our own Song? I testify to you that something happens inside of us as we sing in harmony with Jesus. Things start to shift. Discordant notes slowly begin to drop away. Good things appear in our minds.
As we sing this new Song, the Song of the Lamb, Christ Jesus living as the human me, now the Words of our mouth, our whole being becomes like that one spot in the midst of that great symphony where all the sounds come together. Our eyes see as God sees, our minds think as Jesus thinks, our hearts burn with Father’s passion, our hands touch to bless and lift up and our mouths speak kindness and encouragement.
The Sounds of Father. As we Sing with Jesus, the Words of His Song, we become the sounds, the revelation of Father to creation. And this happens for one reason only – because Jesus IS real and He really is the Energeia of our lives – and because the fake “image of Christ,” a “God” who looks like the devil, is so vanished from our minds that we cannot imagine imagining such a travesty.
And what is it that makes this great change in the renewing of our minds? – The words that we speak, the word of our testimony, speaking Christ personal as us. Our own tongues line our ships up (as James suggested) with the singing of God in the little things, in the everyday things of human kindness and blessing.
The Sounds of God’s Song. Singing the Song of the Lamb and eating of the Tree of Life are two pictures of the same thing. And as we, the firstfruits of God, sing the Song of Father that is Jesus singing, something beyond all belief happens. The universe shifts. A RIVER begins to flow, a River never before known, a River of the knowledge of God out from our hearts filling the earth as the waters cover the sea.
For out of His fullness, we have all already seized hold of grace upon grace – we already sing the Song – through Jesus Christ. No one has seen or heard God, ever, at any time, the One Singing of God, existing inside of the bosom of the Father, He has led God forth into unfolding, into becoming known through our singing the same Song of the Lamb (John 1:16-18 – adapted). We are the sounds of God’s Song.
The Song. But what is the Song? And where is it sung? The Song is a love song, the love of Jesus in and towards His Church, the love of Father through His Church towards His creation. It is the Song we sing together as the Church. Here is one version of that song, from Psalm 133. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
It’s like the precious oil running down, this dwelling in unity.
It’s like the dew of Mount Hermon coming down on you and me.
Oh, how good it is, how pleasant it is to dwell in unity.
The Song of the Lamb is Christian Community, brethren dwelling together in unity; Christian Community is the Song of the Lamb, the blessing of God in the cluster – age-unfolding LIFE. It is time for the gathering together unto Christ.
