| 2:1 I determined within myself not to come to you again in grief. 2 If indeed I grieved you, who, then, is cheering me, if not you who were grieved by me? 3 And I write these things so that, when I do come, I might not have grief from those who ought to cause me to rejoice. I am confident now upon you all, that my joy will be of you all. 4 Indeed, out of much pressure and anguish of heart, I wrote to you, through many tears, not that you might be grieved, but that you might know the love that I have more abundantly towards you. 5 More than that, if anyone has caused grief, it is not me towards whom he has caused grief, just in part, so that I might not put a burden upon you all. 6 It is enough that this one is turning in the right direction, which is of great benefit. 7 On the contrary, rather, you are to forgive and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be overwhelmed with a greater sorrow. 8 Therefore, I encourage you to reaffirm love into him. 9 I wrote also for this purpose, that I might know the proof of you, whether you are giving ear into all. 10 Towards whomever you forgive anything, I also forgive. And to whom I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I have forgiven through you inside the Person of Christ. 11 Indeed, we are not ignorant of Satan’s designs, that we should be taken advantage of by him. 12 Now when I came to Troas, carrying the gospel of Christ, a door opened to me there inside the Lord. 13 Yet I did not find rest in my spirit because Titus, my brother, was not there. Then, having taken leave of those at Troas, I went on into Macedonia. • 14 Good grace and thanks be to God, who always leads us in the triumphal procession (b) inside of Christ, • with the aroma of His knowledge being made visible through us in every place. [Ruling Verse 7] • 15 For of Christ we are a fragrance to God inside those being saved, and inside those still perishing; 16 to one, indeed, an aroma out from death into death [always the one death of Christ], to the other an aroma out from life into life. Who is sufficient for these things? 17 Indeed, we are not like the many, peddling the word of God, but as out from clarity, as out from God, we speak in the presence of God inside of all the sphere of Christ. |

| • Ruling Verse 7: God always leads us, and He leads us in the celebration of all the Victory Jesus already is inside of us. In return, we speak good Grace back into God even as we become His knowledge to others everywhere we go. This is the confidence through which we walk with God in all. • Speak Christ: I exult boastfully in all the victory of Christ revealed in me. I speak Christ in Grace to God and to others. • Ruling Verse 3: The Spirit of God flows out from us as Rivers of Life in every moment and in every place we go. This Life takes on many qualities according to who receives it. It always begins as Grace returning from us to the Father. Then, we are always the knowledge of God made visible. To some the Life from us becomes the knowledge of God as their own life, and to others, it becomes the certainty of the cross. |
b. The word is “the triumphus,” which was the celebration in Rome after a victory had been won, in which Ceaser “led” the victorious general, his troops, and their captives in a great parade. |
