| 3:1 • Since you have already been raised together with Christ, seek and enquire of the things above, where Christ is sitting inside of the right hand of God. 2 Think in your gut, in your own self-story and identity, the things above, and not the things upon the earth. • 3 For you have already and fully died, and your life has been hidden together with Christ inside of God. • 4 When Christ your life [g] becomes visible and clear [to you], then you also will become visible, clearly with Him inside of glory. 5 Regard as already dead, therefore, the members which are upon the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil, strong desire, and covetousness or desire for advantage, which is idolatry. 6 Through these things is coming the angry opposition of God on the sons of willful refusal and unbelief, 7 in which you also once walked when you were living in them. 8 Now, however, lay aside all these: anger, outburst of passion, malice, slander, and foul and abusive words out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie or mislead one another, • for you have already completely stripped away the old man with his practices, 10 and have already fully put on and enclothed yourself with the new, which was made completely new into the acknowledgement of the finest details of the image of the One who created you anew. • 11 Inside of this One there is no Greek or Judean, no circumcised or not-circumcised, no barbarian, Scythian, slave, or free, but Christ is all inside of all [h]. • 12 Therefore, as the chosen of God, devoted and beloved, put on, enclothe yourself with, sink into the inward parts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and longsuffering [i), • 13 bearing with one another and giving favor to each other, if anyone should have a complaint towards another. In exactly the same way that the Lord has forgiven and given favor to you, so also you forgive and give favor. • 14 Now, upon all these as well, put on love, which is the binding together of perfection and the completion of the end purpose. • 15 And let the peace of Christ act as the umpire inside of your hearts, into which also you were called inside of one body. And be thankful. • 16 Let the word of Christ dwell at home inside of you richly, inside of all wisdom. Teach and place each other’s minds inside of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; sing inside of the grace inside your hearts connecting with God. • 17 And everything which you might do in word or in deed, do all of it inside of the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks and speaking good grace, connecting with God the Father through Him. 18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands to the extent that would be proper inside of the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh towards them. 20 Children, listen to your parents in all things; for this is well-pleasing inside of the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke or irritate your children, so that they do not become disheartened. 22 Slaves, listen to your masters according to the flesh in all things, not in eye-service as men-pleasers, but in sincerity and graciousness of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you might do, work out from the soul as to the Lord and not to men, 19 being aware that from the Lord you will receive as due the reward of the inheritance. You serve the Lord Christ. 25 But the one doing wrong will receive back from his wrongdoing, for there is no partiality. 4:1 Masters, give that which is just and equal to your slaves, being aware that you also have a Master inside of heaven. |

| • Ruling Verse 6: Jesus alone carries us into God, and He already has, for we are inside of Him in His resurrection and ascension, even in His authority. Our task inside of God is to learn of a God who is meek and lowly of heart and who walks beneath, lifting others up. This quality that humans despise, God calls “above.” • Speak Christ: Our task is to bring the Words that God speaks into our own consciousness, into our own story of self, without reference to what is already dead, but knowing that we LIVE life inside of Christ inside of God. • Ruling Verse 10: We know the Father by knowing Jesus Sent into us. Christ “at the right hand of God” is not some little thing far away from us. Just as God is all here now, so also Christ Jesus shares form with God as a life-giving Spirit. We are inside of this Jesus and He is inside of us right now. His authority is alongside of God inside of us. • Ruling Verse 5: Christ Jesus is our life, our only life, for everything not-Christ is already gone. We know His union with us in intimacy, and as we know Him so we are with Him. • The Covenant: There is only one death (see Hebrews 10:12-14). The entire question is – HOW? How do we stop doing wicked things? How do we stop abusing other people? One “way” is self-dying that is worse than fake. The other Way is Life. Life is Christ Jesus inside of us for REAL, actively saving us, actively engaging with us first, actively connecting us with God, actively making us to be just like Himself. • Speak Christ: We acknowledge that Jesus already placed our sins into His empty grave, that He already carries our ongoing sin as our Scapegoat. Jesus alone saves us from doing wrong. • Ruling Verse 6. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to, connects with, cleaves to, the Father except THROUGH Me.” ~ There are two ways to deal with the actions of sin. One “way” is self-effort, “mortifying” our own evil propensities. This “way” is entirely fake, leaving its victims in death. The other Way is a Living Way, that is, Jesus Himself. By His own Blood, through His own Flesh, in all that we are, including our sin and our shame, Jesus has already carried us entirely into God. We are inside of the Father inside of Jesus. And here inside of God, Jesus causes us to know the Father even as we know Him. We give all ongoing actions of stupidity to God, as David did, knowing that God alone saves us; we do not save ourselves. As we place our “earthly members” only into God, we discover a God who SAVES. • Ruling Verse 10: Paul is expanding on the great RULE of the Gospel that had come to him through Romans 13:14, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, the only command that counts. Nothing old remains (see 2 Corinthians 5:17-18); Jesus has already made us just like Himself inside of Him. • Speak Christ: God does not teach us to fail; therefore “put on the new man” cannot be by human effort, but only through faith, through the speaking of our self-story what is already True. Speaking Christ fixes our eyes on Jesus and not on self. • The Form for God through Jesus: Church, life together as believers in Jesus, is the dwelling place of God and the end purpose of all Salvation. The things we “put off” are things that hinder Love in our relationships as members of one another. Our purpose is always to know the Father as Love. • Ruling Verse 10 & Covenant: Jesus has already made us just like Himself inside Himself, down to the finest details of who He is. As we put His image upon ourselves through faith, we are putting all the qualities of Jesus’ own Heart upon ourselves. Compassion is our rule, kindness our definition, humility our self inside of God, gentleness our care for one another, and longsuffering, the Mercy Seat, where all belong. • Ruling Verse 8: But the deepest expression and quality of Jesus is that we love one another in just the same way that He loves us. “Giving favor” is how we move as one, like a flock of birds, the form and outline of God. • Ruling Verse 10: To put the Lord Jesus Christ upon ourselves is to put Love upon ourselves, Love that is only the Father. • Kingdom: The completion of the end purpose is Father at Home inside of creation, filled together with all the fulness of God, and the bond that makes that Home perfectly is Love. PEACE among us, regulating our every interaction, and the giving of thanks, makes us the Body and Form of the Father. • The Form for God through Jesus: These two qualities, Love and Peace, are for one purpose, that the Church is the House and Dwelling Place of God (see Ephesians 2:19-22). • Kingdom: Our fellowship together as the Church is the first part of Kingdom, the pattern out from which then flows the design of all things. Our fellowship together is filled with abundance of Word and with worship in the Spirit. • Life: It is the Spirit that gives Life. – The Words that I speak to you are Spirit and Life (John 6:63). Paul is giving us a manual for Christ Community and is describing the LIFE at the center of the Church, the essence of the Life of God in our midst. • Kingdom: The “name” of the Lord Jesus is a metaphor for our being just like Him inside of Him. Out from that name, we first give thanks inside of and for the sake of all, sharing Life with the Father. Then, all that we say and do comes out from Jesus within as the Kingdom, the Father made visible. |
g. We take this to be literal. h. Again, we take this to be literal. i. This is the word enduo, the same as Romans 13:14, put on the Lord Jesus Christ. |
