3.3 Replacing False with True

© 2016 Christ Revealed Bible Institute

There is no such thing as “getting rid of false thinking.” As we embrace true thinking, the false simply and quietly vanishes away. We embrace true thinking by believing what God says. We have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

Yet we recognize that we cannot “become deceived,” for we have been utterly deceived all along. We recognize that the base underlying assumptions and the many patterns of thinking upon them that we have absorbed by living in this world are mostly false and must be replaced.

Our hearts, desiring Jesus alone, desire to know the Truth.

Two Kinds of Word
Now I want to show you how underlying assumptions lead to theories inside of which all facts/Bible verses can be arranged. Consider the course, Symmorphy I: Purpose, which is the pre-requisite of this course. There are two underlying assumptions available to us regarding the Word God speaks.

(1.) Do it or die. (2.) Jesus is the Word; it is He now filling us with His glory who IS and who fulfills all that the Word means inside of us – in response to our faith, “Let it be to me.”

If we choose the second option (life), then we are faced with constructing an entirely different theory of God’s expectations.

My Theory
You see, BECAUSE my base underlying assumption regarding the word God speaks is fundamentally and universally different from that of most Christians, when I weave Bible verses into patterns, they recognize and appreciate the verses, but have no idea what I am talking about.

My theory is the layout of the ten most important verses in the Bible in such a way that the Word God speaks, His Prothesis, IS PROVEN through us by evidence – by life laid down. Then, inside that theory, that pattern of arrangement, I fit all the verses, each one finding its place in a wondrous arrangement of understanding and joy and victory.

The key to it all, however, is my underlying assumption regarding the Word God speaks.

Simply Astonished
Writing The Feast of Tabernacles was a glorious experience. You see, my theory regarding the revelation of Jesus Christ was fully developed when I ventured back into the Old Testament patterns with which I had been so familiar over many years. My question was simply – will I find in what Moses actually says this same revelation of Jesus Christ?

I was simply astonished as I looked at each next set of verses written by Moses to see them flowing perfectly into the pattern without the slightest bit of “tweaking” on my part. When we seek for Christ alone, the One who fulfills all that God speaks in us, we surely find nothing else.

Cannot Hear
Now, the further I have gone on this path, the more I see that God, first, is simply so utterly different from how I, or any Christians I have ever known about, have ever known Him. And thus I see that the biggest underlying assumption that must change inside of us is – What is God?

Here is how it works. You try to talk to another believer in Jesus about this verse or that verse that means so much to you. Yet they cannot hear you at all. The reason is simple. They read that verse inside an entirely different theory based on utterly opposing underlying assumptions.  Their base assumptions MUST change first.

Change Assumptions
Those who believe that math is pure science will follow Stephen Hawking into brilliant stupidity. Those who believe that science is direct observation and measurement ONLY will see the obvious, that what is observed blows all to pieces the brilliant models of pure math.

Those who believe that the Word God speaks is an obligation to perform will hear the voice of the accuser and die. Those who believe that the Word God speaks is Christ Jesus, the only life we are, will hear the voice of the Son of God and live.

Change the underlying assumption first, and the right theories will follow, and all the verses of the Bible will find their place.

The Patterns
This layout is so helpful to me; I now understand more clearly what my task is, particularly in this course. Part of my task is to delineate specifically what are the core underlying assumptions that rule all of our knowledge of God. We must realize that there are not many of those.

But first, I want to specify the theories, the patterns of thinking I use, patterns that flow out from and work together with my ruling definitions. Let me just list some of the patterns I know I use. Some of these patterns I have known for 40 years; others have grown in my understanding over the last 15 years.

Patterns of Truth
Pattern #1: The primary metaphor in the Bible and in the universe is the reproduction of life by the planting of a seed, either a plant seed or a human seed. If the pattern of marriage-bed union and the conception of life is not front and center, then the Bible cannot be known at all.

Pattern #2: The patterns of the feasts of Israel, the tabernacle of Moses, and the journey of Israel rule the layout of New Testament truths; that is, the New Testament was written upon the structure of these three patterns together, primarily the tabernacle of Moses – and three levels of knowing God.

Pattern #3: The layout of story and how it works, drawn from many great examples of the human story rendered in fiction, shows us God’s intentions for man on this earth.

Pattern #4: The layout of the ten most important verses in the Bible solves for us the great mystery, Christ AND the Church, God manifest in the flesh – PROOF.

Assumptions Beneath Patterns
The first two patterns have governed my thinking since 1977, but did not become real until I knew union with Christ. The pattern of story began to grow in my understanding since 2001. The pattern of the mystery I have known clearly only as I wrote the Purpose course. (I lay all this out because I REALLY want to understand this.) So let’s set out the real base understanding, the fundamental and focused underlying assumption that rules each of these four theories or patterns of thinking. – This is so cool.

Patterns and Questions
Concept Pattern Question
1. Seed of Life The universe and the Bible operate out from the organic realm of the bringing forth of life through the planting of a seed, either into the earth or into the womb. Then, through growth or travail, this life comes to fruition or fullness. Christ as the Word is that Seed. What is Christ?
2. Tabernacle The pattern of God’s salvation is set through three levels of knowing God and through seven pieces of furniture. Salvation is living turned around in the Holy of Holies; salvation is God and us together going forth setting creation free. What is Salvation?
3. Story The human story brings in all the elements of the Word made flesh, of suffering and loss, of human limitation and sidetrack, of victory and defeat. It is inside of all these things alone that God shows Himself as He really is. What is Image?
4. Mystery God intends to prove His Word true. The only way that can happen is for God to walk this earth again a second time through His Body, many believers, walking together, loving one another with a pure heart fervently. God lays down His life a second time through us. What is God? – What is Man?

Comparing Assumptions
Assumption Our View The Nicene Christian View
Christ The Word God speaks, alive in our hearts, now living as us, the only life we are, and fulfilling in us all that God speaks. A demi-God, a formed “God” who did something for us back then, who is far up there right now, and who will come back someday – any day now – someday
Salvation The fulfillment of all that God speaks through our mortal frame right here on this earth, the revelation of Jesus Christ. A ticket that allows the ticket-holder to enter heaven and escape hell, but only after body and spirit are ripped apart by death, someday, someday.
Image Through all the weakness of the human frame, God shows Himself as He is, from a babe lying in a manger to a man hanging naked and unashamed upon the cross. God looks like a high heavenly being emanating lights and perfections, that is, the greatest of all the angels shows us what God looks like.
God

Man
All Here Now and one with us.

God revealed as He has chosen, the revelation of Father to all creation now and forever.
Formed and separate.

A filthy and vile worm, a few of whom might be cleaned up and taken to a place of bliss, the rest suffer indescribable torment forever.

Two Layouts of the Same
Now, I wrote a similar layout regarding these four basic assumptions, comparing Nicene Christianity with Christ our only life in the final chapter of The Feast of Tabernacles. My layout was slightly different, however. In that layout, I divided the four basic assumptions of darkness into (1.) the lie, (2.) heaven, (3.) hell, and (4.) unbelief in the Atonement. Rather than try to force these two layouts together, I will include that portion of text as part of the reading for this session. You will see that the two layouts say the same thing. In fact, any single assumption can be understood through a variety of patterns as in seeing ourselves as sons of God, as the bride of Christ, and as the temple of God, all at the same time.

Turn on the Light
We refer back, now, to our opening point, that we do not get rid of false thinking any more than we get rid of darkness when entering a room. Rather, we simply turn on the lights. That is, we turn on Christ Jesus, the only life we are.

Very simply, the engaging with God exercises you experienced through the course Symmorphy I: Purpose, and the same exercises in this and in all courses God takes us through, this is the only way we can know Jesus as He really is. We go directly to Father with His Word, that it IS Jesus alive inside of us and that it IS all that we are; this is the only way we know what is True.

God’s Opportunity
I teach no mind-games. I teach YOU – JESUS – FATHER. There is no other pro-thesis of God. In fact, here is what I teach: FATHER – JESUS – YOU – JESUS – FATHER. That is, I teach you living only inside of John 14:20 and seeing all things out from Jesus alone.

John 14:20 is God’s one opportunity to prove His thesis TRUE. You are God’s opportunity to prove His thesis true. God, dwelling in you, Person inside of person, together with you, intends to demonstrate to all the universe that Jesus is faithful and true.

The Pro-Thesis of God
This lesson then sets me as the writer and you as the learner on a clear course as we proceed through all of these huge questions beginning with – What is God? In response to each question, we want to find what is the base underlying assumption and then, what are the appropriate theories that flow out of that assumption.

We do address false thinking, however, using the contrast between the false and the true as a means of understanding the true – as God does so often in the Bible. But our goal is to see the true, that is, Jesus our only life, the Pro-Thesis of God, God’s intention to prove His word true through, and together with, you and me.
