4. The Anointing Teaches Me

This lesson covers 1 John 2:18-29. John begins this section with these words. – Little children, it is the final and furthest hour, and as you have heard that anti-Christ is coming, even now many anti-Christs have already become, whereby we know that it is the final hour.

John wrote this around 1,927 years ago. How, then, do we imagine that we live in “the final hour” today? If “the final hour” is tied to the great Story of God, which it is, then the calendar dates have little meaning. Rather, we see that this warning applies to EVERY generation.

Applies Fully. And so we are establishing one of the primary principles of the Apocalypse, that every Word God speaks applies fully to every generation of the Church in every country.

Then John says this. – These [many anti-Christs] went out from among us… that it might be made visible to all that these [anti-Christs] are not part of us. The plain meaning of the text is that anti-Christ(s) are always plural, many, and that they are found inside Christian circles. “Be made visible” is phaneroo, but phaneroo is an expression of apocalupsis. “Made visible” from “the unveiling.”

Christ First. This gives us a second primary principle of the Apocalypse, that the unveiling goes in two directions at the same time. Something in me wants to assert that this is always the case. I believe that “something” is the Anointing of the Spirit. That’s an incredible thought, for it asserts that nothing of the unveiling of evil as described in Revelation can ever take place without a first and greater unveiling of Jesus Christ.

As you can see, John has not yet experienced the series of visions he will soon see, but the Spirit knows them, and these letters lay the foundation of things to come. The next thing John says is – And you have the Anointing that comes from Devotion, and you perceive all.

A Conflict of Spirit. In his second short passage on “anti-Christ,” in Chapter 4, John says “the spirit of anti-Christ.” John sets the spirit of anti-Christ against the Anointing of the Devoted Spirit, that is, inside the setting of the world, the setting of our Victory. Thus, a large part of our Jesus Secret page will be devoted to defining “anti-Christ” and defining “the Anointing.”

John also pairs contradictions, one against the other, all the way through. These several pairings follow right after “Do not love the world,” that is, the setting of our Victory. Let’s list those several pairs followed by the weaving of faith..

A List of Opposing Pairs. I want to use the concept of “world” on both sides of our list with the understanding that the second is the Kingdom, and that Life swallows up and eliminates all death.

A World of Death   A World of Life
Many anti-Christs
The lie – fakery and false speaking
The liar
Contradiction & speaking against
Taking you off course
Does not have the Father

Versus
The Anointing from Devotion
The Truth – is True
One who remains with us
Speaking the same Word
The Anointing remains
Has the Father

Remember, the tares look just like the wheat. The contrast is not to know “anti-Christ,” but to KNOW the Anointing.

The Statements of Faith. ~ I possess the Anointing that comes out from Devotion. I perceive all. I perceive what is true, and I perceive what is false. I recognize all speaking that is contrary to Christ. I discern the spirit of anti-Christ. I know the truth; I recognize all lies and fakery. I never separate between Jesus and “Christ.” Jesus alone is the Christ. I speak the same Word that Jesus speaks; I possess the Father. I dwell inside of the Son and inside of the Father. ~

We know the True first before we could ever discern the false.

Always Together. ~ The gospel lives and remains inside of me. I know that Jesus is just and innocent. I am conceived out from Him; I also do that which is just. The Anointing I have received from God lives and remains in me. The Anointing teaches me all and is true. This Anointing from Devotion teaches me that I dwell inside of Jesus. I live and remain inside of Jesus; Jesus is visible to me. I speak boldly with all freedom inside His presence. ~

Which comes first, the Anointing to perceive all or speaking the same Word? Neither comes first, Spirit and Word always come together.

A Bully. It is the Anointing that I want to KNOW. Identifying anti-Christ comes only out from the Anointing. Identifying anti-Christ is automatic, for we instantly perceive that which is speaking against. Yet we perceive speaking against because the Anointing draws from all the Word that we have planted in our hearts.

On a news site I read, I clicked on an article of some Christian arguing that Jesus wants us to join the army. I saw first that the writer was a bully. Then, I saw that all the verses he used were found in his own intellectual control over Jesus and his purpose was to beat down his brothers and sisters who perceived a different word.

The Center of All. What we want to do, then, is to define “The Anointing.” Even more, we want to know how we possess that Anointing. As we go through defining the Anointing and then the steps by which we possess that Anointing, we will easily perceive that which is anti-Christ and why speaking against remains.

Nonetheless, look at my example. It’s not just Word against word – he used many Bible verses. And it’s not just Spirit against spirit. I did not “discern” a false spirit because I was too angry as I read his bullying and contempt. It all boils down to Hheart against heart. And that’s why, “I possess and dwell inside of the Father,” is at the center of all.

Placing “to Teach.” We now have the layout of the Jesus Secret page. After defining “The Anointing,” we have two boxes. The first is “Possessing the Anointing,” and the second is “Identifying anti-Christ.” The page ends with an “Ask and Believe.”

Now, I do not include a box on “To Teach.” You see, even though John uses the word “teach,” this is not instruction in the classroom nor would we find much that would be useful in the dictionary definition of “teach.” This “teaching” of the Anointing, rather, is more a “cause to know.” “That which causes to know” is part of our definition, We know out from Father in our hearts, through speaking the same Word, but by the Spirit causing us to know.

Defining the Anointing. So – let’s define the Anointing. First off, the Anointing is the Devoted Spirit of God, whom we do not “define.” But the Anointing is not the Devoted Spirit in general, but rather in a very focused and bounded manner. You can see the boundaries of the Anointing and measure them. Thus we can and must define “The Anointing.”

Here is a visible picture of the Anointing. – It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion (Psalm 133).

The Spirit Upon. We bring that picture in now, but every part of it is how we possess the Anointing. What is the Anointing? The Anointing is the Devoted Spirit UPON a man or a woman. By naming “Aaron,” David made it personal.

Peter quoted Joel on the Day of Pentecost. “I will pour out of My Spirit upon ALL FLESH.” The word “all flesh” does not mean “in general,” but rather, upon each one personally. The Anointing is the Devoted Spirit upon you, upon your humanity, and fitted entirely and utterly to you, one Spirit with Him.

Anointing, Grace, and Rivers. The Anointing is divine enablement fitted to the individual person and entirely under that person’s control. Paul said, “The spirit of the prophet is SUBJECT to the prophet” (1 Corinthians 14). We do not just “trust” the Anointing upon another, for the purposes of the human are not always the purposes of God. Rather, we “prove” all anointings.

Grace, then, is the presence of a Personal Father inside of the divine enablement resting upon you. In addition, Rivers flowing out is a completely different aspect of the Spirit from the Anointing. The Anointing is part of us; the Rivers go out far beyond us.

The Anointing Oil. Before including the box defining the Anointing, I want to talk about possessing the Anointing, and then include both boxes together. The Anointing is upon us for the taking, and bold humans take it for good or for mis-direction. But we must have the Father inside the Anointing, and thus we want only His path to possessing a True Anointing.

Let’s enlarge the picture David gives us. The Anointing is described as oil, the oil of incense, the oil of being set apart. Everything in Moses’ tabernacle was anointed with oil. Everything in your walk into the knowledge of God is the Devoted Spirit personally enmeshed with you.

Upon a Man or Woman. The oil comes first upon the head. Second, the oil runs down from the head upon the face and beard. From the face and/or beard (in Christ we do not separate male from female), the oil drips next upon the shoulders. Now, David says “running down the edge of his garments.” From the shoulders, then, the dripping oil continues in two directions. First, the oil drips down upon the arms and hands. And second, the oil flows across the heart before proceeding down upon the legs and feet.

By taking these metaphors through Scripture, we discover HOW we possess a True Anointing in assurance.

“Yes, Lord.” The oil comes first upon the head. – No one is able to say, “Lord Jesus,” if they are not inside of the Devoted Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3).

The importance of “Yes, Lord,” has grown in my understanding in recent times. The immediate recognition of and submission to a Personal Master is the beginning of a True Anointing. There is evidence of a personal yielding to Jesus in the affairs of life in the words of one and no evidence in the words of another. Both respond favorably to what I share and both speak good things. Yet I TRUST only the first.

Jesus, Master. I now recognize the bony finger and the intense demand of the Voice speaking to me, “Surrender right now,” as the most important part of the Anointing coming upon me, though I knew nothing of that. The first time I finally responded with, “Yes, Lord,” was followed soon after by the same Anointing whispering to me, “I will lead you into all truth.” Yet there were many more surrenders to come, inside of very hard places, and years of wrestling over this question of submission to God. This is why I cannot know a “union” without Jesus, for I never accept anything that does not place me utterly with my Master.

Who Trembles at My Word. Then the anointing comes upon the face and beard, which I will take in two directions at the same time. The first is a face to face respect towards God as a Person of Honor and to be honored. And the second is respect to His Word, to honor what God speaks even above God.

Here has been my hope since my early twenties. – Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest? For all those things My hand has made, and all those things exist,” says the Lord. “But on this one will I look: on him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word (Isaiah 66:1-2). I do not trust one who does not tremble at God’s Word.

The Ink of Christ. The shoulders, then, are the authority of the Kingdom, as Isaiah said, “The kingdom shall rest upon His shoulders.” For this session, let’s just say that God’s purposes and desire become ours.

The Anointing then becomes sharing Hheart with God – before it flows down upon the feet. – The one who says, “I live and remain inside of Him,” is committed to walk in exactly the same way He Himself walked. – Inside of this we know that He dwells inside of us, out from the Spirit whom He has given to us. The Anointing is the ink of Christ upon our hearts.

One Spirit. Finally, the hands and the feet are the final place of the Anointing. We see John emphasizing two things all the way through. One who is True does not pursue sinful things, but does that which is just. One who is True places loving one another as the set of his or her face.

But as the Anointing flows out upon us from our heads to our feet, it enmeshes itself with us, our persons, our interests, our abilities. We are one Spirit. I love adventure stories. The Spirit anoints my ability to show you Christ through adventure stories. Yet I am never afraid of the wrong things coming through, for JESUS is my Lord and Father’s desire is my desire.

Movement without Friction. But what does the Anointing do? – Oil is that which allows movement without friction. Hearing and understanding the Word, that is, Truth, is possible only through the Anointing. Much that we “hear” from God is caused by the Anointing. The thoughts of our mind are the thoughts of Christ when they are Anointed of the Spirit.

Then, conversely, the Anointing is that which enables our human qualities and giftings, whether of physic, soul, or spirit, to flow out in a way that can be received by others. To love God-in and God-out is to value the Anointing.

The Anointing. ~ The Anointing is the Devoted Spirit upon me, personally, upon my humanity and fitted entirely to me as one Spirit and one flesh. The Anointing is God’s enablement upon my abilities, spirit, soul, and physic, yet it is always under my direction. The Anointing causes me to know the glorious Salvation in whom I live. It causes me to know the True first, and then the false. The Anointing upon me enables movement without friction, whether God through me or my gifts becoming blessing to others. It marks me as belonging to God. ~

Possessing the Anointing. ~ The Anointing of the Devoted Spirit comes upon me that I might receive the Word God speaks and know that I am conceived of God. The Anointing enables me to say, “Yes, Lord,” and to acknowledge Jesus as my sovereign Master. I possess the Anointing even as I tremble at God’s Word. By the Anointing, I know Christ Jesus written upon my heart as every Word God speaks. By the Anointing, I know that I share Hheart with God. I rest in the Anointing that I might walk as Jesus walked. I rest in the Anointing that I might do what is just and true and that I might love my brothers and sisters. ~

Driving Jesus Away. As we are Anointed of God inside Father’s Heart, so it is easy for us to sense immediately that which is contrary, even if we can’t always articulate it.

The first part of anti-Christ is driving Jesus far away. This takes several forms. The first is John’s direct reference to natural Judeans who denied that Jesus was the Messiah. These all are anti-Christ. Then, you have Nicene Christians who want a Jesus who is only back then, up there, and someday, all the way to deeper truth Christians who want to be anointed as “Christ” without needing a Personal Jesus, this false “split between Jesus and Christ.”

Speaking and Desire. Then, the second part of anti-Christ has to do with WORD and with speaking. And so we have this great clash between speaking the same word and speaking a contrary word. This is why we immerse ourselves in knowing what God actually says, and not knowing what people claim He says when He doesn’t. When we speak The Jesus Secret II, we know immediately when someone is speaking contrary to Christ.

Finally, that which is anti-Christ goes against the Father’s purpose and desire, primarily out from contempt against other Christians, thus denying God His revelation inside heaven-earth through the Church.

The Flesh. The word “flesh” in the New Testament refers to our human qualities and attributes, but in three ways. Flesh can be filled with God, and flesh can be neutral. Sometimes, however, flesh refers to something contrary to God. Remember that humans are always symmorphic.

When the human mind is Anointed of the Spirit, it is the mind of Christ, but when human thoughts are not anointed of the Spirit, they ARE anointed by another spirit. The carnal mind and anti-Christ are two ways of saying the same thing: human flesh, made for God, but enabled by fallen angelic spirits who also energeo and anoint. – God or demons, humans cannot be empty.

Identifying anti-Christ. ~ As I acknowledge Jesus as Lord. and as Word written all through my heart, so the Anointing enables me to know that which is contrary to God and to His speaking. Jesus alone is the Christ; I never separate between Jesus and ‘Christ” or between Jesus and me. I know when ‘Christian’ words are not what God speaks. I perceive the anointing of false spirits; I recognize when someone turns the True Anointing into wrong directions. I honor the Spirit, but I am careful with whom I trust. As I rest in the Anointing, so Jesus removes all that is contrary and I know nothing other than God sharing life with me. ~

First Know Christ. And so we see that anti-Christ is a very simple thing, easy to recognize and common to all. – Been there, done that. Yet anti-Christ is very, very anti-Christ, no matter how familiar it might be. Still, you cannot identify anti-Christ without first KNOWING Christ.

Deliverance from anti-Christ begins with giving thanks, proceeds through asking and believing we have received, and is made complete in our knowing as we speak Christ personal as us. John is big on asking. Let’s ask for the Anointing True and immersed with us and then believe we have received.

Ask and Believe. ~ Lord Jesus, You say that You immerse me into God’s Devoted Spirit so that my humanity might be in tune with God, so that I might know You. You say that Your Anointing enables me to perceive what is True and what is false and to know that the Father is inside of me, sharing life with me. Lord Jesus, You are my Master, Anoint me that I might know Your Word written all through my heart. Anoint me so that I might know Father with me, so that our Father can move easily through me into the lives of others. Lord Jesus, I receive what I ask; my whole being is immersed with Your own Anointing of Devotion. ~

The Devoted Anointing. From the moment I heard Joel Osteen say, “Speak what God says you are,” God set me directly onto the course of exposing and eliminating anti-Christ. I have written about little else than knowing Christ by speaking Christ inside the Anointing of Devotion, and thus ridding our minds and hearts of anti-Christ. I continue to see Chapters 2 through 5 of Symmorphy V: Life as my best expression of this great contradiction and clash of Desire (Father), Speaking (Christ), and Knowing (Spirit Anointing).

The Devoted Anointing breaks the discord of anti-speaking.

Reading for Next Time. The next lesson is titled “I Am Just Like Jesus.” For that lesson, read 1 John 3:1-12 three or four times.

There is no greater promise God speaks to us than that we would be just like Jesus. Since age 21, I have embraced this promise as God speaking directly to me and placed it at the center of God’s Covenant with me.

Beloved, we are now children birthed out from God, and it has not yet been made visible [in outward appearance] what we will be. We know that if He becomes visible [to us], we will be just exactly like Him, because we will be seeing Him as He is.

Let’s Pray Together. I know immediately in the Anointing upon me when a false spirit is speaking out from a “Christian” platform. What is confusing, though, is when someone is Anointed of the same Spirit shared with Jesus, yet they turn their words into the wrong direction out from dishonesty.

Let’s pray for all Christians who share the same Spirit, that they would be convicted to honesty by that Spirit.

“Lord Jesus, we are Your Word inside Your Church; we are the sword of Your mouth. Lord Jesus, we speak on behalf of all our brothers and sisters, those who truly belong to You. Lord Jesus, You have Anointed us with Your authority.

“Lord Jesus, let Your Anointing inside of each CONVICT. Even as You have done with us, so convict all to fear You. Devoted Anointing, convict all to honesty, that they might tremble at the Word God actually speaks, that they might cast off all contrary word and all contrary speaking. Devoted Anointing, convict all to honesty, that they might never again trust in themselves nor look for any sufficiency or rightness in themselves, but in Jesus alone.

“Lord Jesus, even as You have caused us to know that You are already Lord and that Your Church is already Your fulness, so enable our brothers and sisters to know the same. As You have caused us to know that we are already just like You, so cause all our brethren to know the same. It is so, Lord Jesus, we receive all that we ask.”
