Revelation 16 - 22

Revelation III
16:1 Then I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of the pain-filled anger of God into the earth. 2 And the first departed and poured out his bowl into the earth; and a nasty and painful sore came upon the men and women having the stamp of the beast and those worshiping its image.

3 The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood, as of one dead; and every living soul that was in the sea died. 4 And the third poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood. 5 Then I heard the angel of the waters saying: “You are just and innocent, the One who is and who always is, O Devoted One, for You have judged these things, 6 because the blood of devoted ones and prophets they have shed and You have given them blood to drink, as they deserve.” 7 And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, Lord God All-Carrying, true and just are Your judgments.

8 Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to burn men inside of fire. 9 And the men were burned with great heat, and they cursed the name of God, the One having authority over these striking blows; and they did not change their minds to give Him glory. 10 Then the fifth poured out his bowl upon the throne of the beast, and its kingdom became dark, and they were gnawing their tongues for the anguish. 11 They cursed the God of heaven from their anguish and wounds, but they did not change their minds from their works.

12 Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl upon the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings of the rising sun might be prepared. 13 And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, like frogs. 14 These are the spirits of demons performing signs, which go forth upon the kings of the entire inhabited land, to gather them together into the battle of the great day of God, the All-Carrying. 15 “Behold, I continuously come like a thief. Blessed is the one who is wakeful and alert, keeping watch over his garments, so that he should not walk naked, so that they might not see his indecency.” 16 And he gathered them together into the placed called Armageddon in Hebrew.

17 Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air, and a great voice came out from the throne in the temple, saying, “Become!” 18 And there were flashes of lightning and voices and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since men were upon the earth, so vast an earthquake and so great. 19 And the great city split into three parts, and the cities of the ethnic families fell prostrate; and Babylon the great was remembered in the presence of God, to give her the cup of the pain-filled anger of His settled opposition. 20 Then every island fled, and the mountains were not to be found. 21 And a great hail, each about a talent weight, came down out of heaven upon men and women. And they cursed God for the striking blows of the hail, for exceedingly great were its blows.

17:1 Then one of the seven angels having the seven bowls came and spoke with me saying, “Come, I will show you the verdict against the great prostitute, the one sitting upon many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth have committed pornographic immorality, and those dwelling on the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her pornographic immorality.

3 And the angel carried me away inside of the Spirit into a desolate wilderness where I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast filled with names of slander, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 And the woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with detestable things and the impurity of her pornographic immorality. 5 Upon her forehead a name was written, a mystery: “Babylon the Great, the Mother of the Prostitutes and of the Disgusting Things of the Earth.” 6 And I saw the woman drunk from the blood of the devoted ones, and from the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And seeing her, I marveled with great wonder.

7 Then the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel because of this? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast carrying her, the one with seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that you saw used to be, but is not presently, yet it is about to arise out of the abyss and go into ruin and loss. And those dwelling upon the earth, whose names are not written in the book of life from the laying down of the world-cosmos, will wonder as they see the beast which was, but is not, and yet will arrive.

9 Here is the mind that has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains upon which the woman sits. 10 And there are seven kings. The five are fallen prostrate, the one is, the other has not yet come; and when he shall come, it is fitting for him to remain only a little while. 11 And the beast which was but is not, also himself is an eighth, and is of the seven and goes into ruin and loss.

12 The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom but who receive authority as kings for one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and they will give up their own power and authority to the beast. 14 These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will defeat them, because He is the Lord of lords and King of kings; and those with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.

15 Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples and multitudes, ethnic families and languages. 16 And the ten horns that you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and will strip her desolate and naked. They will eat her flesh and will burn her inside of fire. 17 For God has put into their hearts to do His intention, to give their kingdom to the beast until the words of God will be completed and fulfilled. 18 And the woman whom you saw is the great city, having kingship over the kings of the earth.

18:1 After these things I saw another angel-messenger coming down out from heaven, having great authority; and the earth was illuminated by his glory. 2 He cried out in a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen prostrate, fallen prostrate is Babylon the Great! She has become a dwelling place of demons, and a prison for every unclean spirit, a prison for every unclean bird, and a prison for every unclean and hated wild beast. 3 For out of the wine of the accusing anger of her pornographic immorality all the ethnic families have drunk; and the kings of the earth have committed pornographic immorality with her; and the merchants and travelers of the earth have been enriched from the power of her self-indulgent luxury.”

4 Then I heard another voice out from heaven, saying: “Come out of her My people, so that you may not have fellowship together with her sins and so that you may not receive of her afflictions and beatings. 5 For her sins have been joined together as far as heaven, and God has considered her wrongful actions. 6 Give back to her as she has given; and double to her twofold according to her works. In the cup which she has mixed, mix to her double. 7 As she has glorified herself and lived in luxurious self-indulgence, give to her that much torment and grief, for she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen; I am no widow and I will never see grief.’ 8 For this reason, her beatings and afflictions will come in one day, death and grief and famine; and she will be consumed with fire because the Lord God is mighty, the One who has judged her.

9 The kings of the earth will weep and will strike their breasts for her, the ones who committed pornographic immorality with her and who lived in luxurious self-indulgence. When they see the smoke of her burning, 10 they will stand from afar fearful of her torment and say, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon the Mighty City! For in one hour your judgment has come.’

11 And the merchants and travelers of the earth will weep and grieve for her, because of their merchandise that no one buys anymore – 12 merchandise of gold and silver, of precious stones and pearls, of fine linen, silk, and scarlet; and all citron wood and every article of ivory and every article of most precious wood and bronze, iron and marble; 13 and cinnamon and spice, incense, myrrh, and frankincense; and wine and oil, and finest flour and wheat; and cattle, sheep, horses and chariots; and slaves and souls of men. 14 The ripe fruit of the desire of your soul has departed from you, and all the sumptuous and splendid things have departed from you, and they will not find those things anymore. 15 The merchants of these things who have been made rich from her will stand far away because of the fear of her torment, weeping and grieving, 16 saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, clothed with fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold, precious stones, and pearl!’ 17 For in one hour such great wealth has been brought to desolation. Every shipmaster, traveler, and sailor, and as many as trade by sea, stood at a distance, 18 crying out, seeing the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’ 19 And they cast dust upon their heads, and they cried out, weeping and grieving, saying: ‘Woe, woe, the great city in which all those with ships in the sea were enriched from her wealth! For in one hour she has been brought to desolation.’

20 Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you devoted ones, and apostles and prophets, because God judged the judgement against her for you, for your sake.”

21 Then an angel took up a mighty stone, like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying: “Thus with violence Babylon will be cast down, the great city, and shall not be found anymore. 22 And the sound of harpists and musicians, flute players and trumpeters shall not be heard in you any longer. And all craftsmen of any craft shall not be found in you any longer. The sound of a millstone shall not be heard in you anymore. 23 And the light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore; and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants were the great ones of the earth, for by your drugs all the ethnic families wandered away. 24 And in her the blood of prophets and devoted ones was found, and of all those who have been slain upon the earth.”

19:1 After these things I heard what was like a great voice of a large multitude inside of heaven, crying out: “Hallelujah! The salvation, the glory, and the power of our God! 2 For true and just are His judgments, because He has judged the great prostitute who had corrupted the earth with her pornographic immorality, and He has vindicated the blood of His servants from her hand.” 3 A second time they said: “Hallelujah!” And her smoke ascends into the unfolding of the ages. 4 Then the twenty-four elders and the four living things fell prostrate and worshiped God, the One who sits upon the throne, saying: “Let it be so; it is so. Hallelujah!” 5 And a voice came forth from the throne, saying: “Praise our God, all His servants, and those fearing Him, the small and the great.”

6 And I heard what was like the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters, and like the sound of mighty thundering, saying: “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the All-Carrying One, has reigned. 7 We should rejoice and be filled with joy, and give glory to Him, because the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His bride has prepared herself. 8 It was given to her to be clothed in fine linen, bright shining and pure. For the fine linen is the just approval of the devoted ones.

9 Then he said to me, “Write, Blessed are those  summoned to the supper of the marriage of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These words of God are true.” 10 Then I fell before his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “See that you do not. I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers and sisters who possess the testimony and proof of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy {of calling forth the knowledge of Christ.}

11 Then I saw heaven opened {the original normal human eyesight}, and I saw a white horse with One sitting upon it, called faithful and true, and inside of just innocence He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and upon His head were many royal crowns, each one having a name written, which no one perceives except He Himself. 13 He was clothed with a garment dipped in blood. And His name is called, “The Word of God.” 14 The armies who were in heaven accompanied Him upon white horses, each clothed in fine linen, white and pure. 15 And out from His mouth goes forth a sharp and eager sword, so that inside of it, He may strike the ethnic families; and He will shepherd and care for them with a scepter of iron. He treads the winepress of the pain-filled anger of the settled opposition of God, the All-Carrying One. 16 And He has upon His robe and upon His thigh a name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

17 Then I saw an angel standing inside of the sun, and he cried out in a great voice, saying to all the birds flying in mid-heaven, “Come, gather yourselves into the great supper of God, 18 so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders, the flesh of the mighty and the flesh of horses, and of those sitting upon them, and the flesh of all, both free and slaves, small and great.”

19 And I saw the wild beast and the kings of the earth with their armies, gathered together to make war with the One who sits upon the horse and with His army. 20 And the beast was captured, and with him the fake prophet, the one who did the signs in its presence by which he led astray those who received the stamp of the beast and those who worshipped its image. The two were cast living into the lake of fire burning with sulfur. 21 But the rest were killed with the sword going forth from the mouth of the One who sits upon the horse. And all the birds were filled from their flesh.

20:1 Then I saw an angel descending out of heaven, holding the key of the abyss, and a great chain in his hand. 2 He seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the devil, and bound him for a thousand years. 3 And he cast him into the abyss, and shut and sealed it over him, so that he should not lead the ethnic families astray, until the thousand years were completed. After this, it is necessary for him to be released for a little time.

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them, and [I saw] the souls of those who were beheaded through the testimony of Jesus and through the word of God, and those who did not worship the beast, nor his image, and did not receive the stamp upon their forehead and upon their hand. And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 The rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years was completed. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part inside the first resurrection. Upon these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him a thousand years.

7 But when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released out of his prison 8 and will go out to lead astray the ethnic families in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together into the war, whose number is like the sand of the sea. 9 And they ascended up upon the breadth of the earth and besieged the encampment of the devoted ones and the beloved city. But fire came down out of heaven and consumed them. 10 And the devil, the one leading them astray, was cast into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the fake prophet are, and they will be examined day and night into the unfolding of the ages.

11 Then I saw a great white throne, and the One sitting upon it, from whose face and presence earth and heaven fled, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing in the face and presence of the throne, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of the things that were written inside the books, according to their works. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it; and death and hades gave up the dead who were in them; and each of them were judged according to their works. 14 And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This second death is the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone was not found written inside the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea does not exist any longer. 2 And I saw the devoted city, the New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having been prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of the throne, saying: “Look and see, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will tabernacle with them, and they will be His peoples, and God Himself, their God, will be with them. 4 And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will not exist any longer, nor grief, nor crying, nor pain; they will not exist any longer because the former things have already gone away.

5 And the One sitting upon the throne said, “Look and see, I make all things new.” And He said, “Write this, because these words are faithful and true.” 6 Then He said to me, “It is become! I am the A and the Z, the source, and the completion. To the one thirsting, I will give of the spring of the water of life freely. 7 The one who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. 8 But the timid and unbelieving, having become detestable, and murderers and sexually immoral and drug users and idolaters and all fake liars, their portion is inside of the lake burning with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

9 And one of the seven angels having the seven bowls filled with the seven final striking blows came and spoke with me, saying, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away inside of the Spirit upon a great and high mountain, and he showed me the city, devoted Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 possessing the glory of God. The radiance of it was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone as clear as crystal. 12 It had a great and high wall containing twelve gates, and upon the gates twelve angel-messengers, and names engraved, the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. 13 On the east were three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. 14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and upon them the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The one speaking with me had a gold measuring reed, so that he could measure the city, its gates, and its wall. 16 And the city is laid out as a square, with its length the same as its width.  Then the angel measured the city with the measuring stick, at twelve thousand stadia. The length, the breadth, and the height of it are equal. 17 Then he measured its wall, one hundred forty-four cubits [that is, forearms], the measure of man, that is, of the angel-messenger. 18 And the material of its wall was jasper, and the city pure gold, like clear glass. 19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every precious stone; the first foundation jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each one of the gates respectively was of one pearl, and the street of the city was gold, pure as transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple inside of the city; for the Lord God All-Carrying and the Lamb are its temple. 23 And the city has no need of the sun, nor of the moon, that they should shine in it; for the glory of God enlightened it, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 Then the ethnic families will walk through its light, and the kings of the earth will carry the glory and honor of their ethnic families into it. 25 And its gates will not be shut by day, for night will not exist there. 26 They will bring the glory and the honor of the ethnic families into it. 27 But nothing unclean will enter into it, nor those doing foul things and falsehoods, but only those who are written inside of the Lamb’s book of life.

22:1 Then the angel showed me a river of water of life, shining as crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the middle of its street and of the river, on this side and on that side, was the tree of life, producing twelve fruits, each yielding its fruit according to month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the ethnic families. 3 Curse will not exist any longer. But the throne of God and of the Lamb will be inside of it, and His servants will serve and worship Him. 4 And they will see His face and presence, and His name will be upon their foreheads. 5 Night will not exist there, and they have no need of the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because God will be light upon them, and they will reign into the unfolding of the ages.

6 And he said to me, “These words are faithful and true. For the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel-messenger to show the things that must become immediately. 7 Look and see, I am coming swiftly. Blessed is the one keeping guard over the words of the prophecy of this book.

8 And I, john, am the one hearing and seeing these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel-messenger showing me these things. 9 But he said to me, “See that you do not. I am your fellow servant with your brothers and sisters, the prophets, and with those keeping guard over the words of this book. Worship God!” 10 And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book; for the time is near. 11 The one who has been unjust, let him be unjust still; and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still, and he who is just, let him do justice still; and the one who is devoted, let him be devoted still.

12 “Look and see, I am coming swiftly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each as his work is. 13 I am the A and the Z, the first and the last, the Source and the Completion. 14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, for their right will be upon the tree of life, and they will enter by the gates into the city. 16 Outside are the dogs, and the drug pushers, and the sexually immoral, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves to do fakery and pretending.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel-messenger to testify these things upon the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the shining morning star.” 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And the one hearing, let him say, “Come!” And the one thirsting, let him come; the one desiring, let him receive the water of life freely.

18 I testify to everyone hearing the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone should place [death] upon these things, God will place upon him the striking blows written inside of this book. 19 And if anyone should take [Life] away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and out of the holy city, of those written inside of this book.

20 The One who testifies these things says, “Yes, I am coming swiftly.” Let it be so. Come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with all the devoted ones. Let it be so.
