6.2 Drinking One Spirit

© 2016 Christ Revealed Bible Institute

For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body… and have all been made to drink into one Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13). – If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink (John 7:37). – Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into eonian life (John 4:14).

IF anyone thirsts – Our intention in this lesson is to spend time understanding what it means for us to drink together of One Spirit. Yet I am compelled back to the Door into all that is Christ.

God Awaits Thirst
I was stunned by the absence of the knowledge of God in a good and kind Christian man, R.C. Sproul, who has devoted his life to teaching about God from the Bible. We receive all who name the name of Jesus as our precious brethren, yet we cannot escape from Jesus’ constant warning that many will hold the invitation to enter Him, yet will refuse.

God CANNOT sin; God cannot force the knowledge of Himself on anyone. Yes, when someone is born again, the Spirit of God enters into union with their spirits, yet their minds remain untouched by Spirit. God never shoves His way through. Rather, God awaits thirst; He responds only to desire.

Pentecost
Entering Christ is Pentecost; it is entering the Holy Place. And Pentecost IS the Spirit of God flooding our souls, our minds, and then, our emotions.

The primary purpose of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is that we might KNOW that Spirit that causes us to KNOW God. The sign of that Baptism is not speaking in tongues, as valuable as that gift is to us, but rather that the WORDS of the Bible are transformed in our knowing. Before our souls are flooded with the Holy Spirit we read the Bible as ideas for us to know about and to implement. After our souls are flooded with the Holy Spirit, those same words become Spirit and they become Life.

Quenching Thirst
And the dividing line is entirely our thirst meeting God’s Desire.

I am looking at the Song of Solomon, Chapter 5. The Shulamite hears her Beloved calling her, but does not arise. When she finally opens the Door to Him, she finds that He is gone. She runs to seek Him, but the watchmen on the wall, the preachers of sermons and the writers of Christian theology, find her instead and beat her with the Bible.

Sproul wonders why God’s people do not want to know the Bible, yet he stands as a watchman before those same people, keeping them away from the thirst that would take them into Spirit and into Life.

Marriage Union
I have heard and read many people, including some who teach “union with Christ,” who argue that what is known as “Spirit,” this “claim” of a knowing of God coming only in the fullness of Pentecost, is nothing other than foolish human emotions. It is impossible to cause them to know the words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life apart from their own drinking of the Spirit of God into their souls.

Our thirst meets His Desire. There is no other marriage. Holding “union with Christ” as a mental philosophy, as ideas held in the brain, cannot bring forth the revelation of Jesus Christ upon this earth. – They do not want! Only knowing Spirit Word together will ever bring forth Life.

A Line Drawn
The work of the watchmen is to quench thirst; their success in the church is overwhelming. Yet even after tasting of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, many spend some time splashing in the shallows and then, for whatever reason, decide that drinking of Spirit is not for them.

This line drawn in the Holy Place, right across the hidden Word and the Light of the anointing, shows us two triangles. One triangle is Spirit word and Spirit anointing and the door back out to human ignorance; the other triangle is Spirit word and Spirit anointing, and the altar of incense before the veil. Passing from the first triangle to the second is the real entrance into the living Christ.

Invitation Only
You see, God is always a perfect Gentleman; He will never force Himself on anyone. He gives each a taste and then invites them to desire more. Yet that invitation is never a command.

And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow… The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden – “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat…” (Genesis 3:9 & 16). Do you see how God hides LIFE? He invites, but does not command us to eat of Life. Yet only our own determination will ever cause us to do so.

And the tree of “obey do not disobey,” the tree of death, with its Spirit anointed ministers, is not found in the outer court, but in the altar of incense, just in front of Life.

Meaning Everything
I now understand why God does this, and why I could not write about Drinking of One Spirit without laying out this path by which we enter that KNOWING of God that is by immersion into the Holy Spirit, the Person of the Spirit flooding our souls. It is so that this way of living, drinking together of one Spirit, might mean everything to us, that we might give ourselves utterly to all God intends inside this drinking of One Spirit.

You see, you and I, as individuals, have entered into the Holiest, and, having turned around, are seated upon the Mercy Seat of heaven and are going forth, now, as Christ revealed. The role of the Holy Place in our going forth is our drinking together of One Spirit.

Spirit Makes Body
We are speaking entirely of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is first the ordering of all members inside this drinking of One Spirit. And being a vital member of the one Body of Christ comes only as we drink together with one another of One Spirit.

You can assemble Christians together into one room, but that does not make them the Body of Christ. Only drinking together of One Spirit can do such a thing. The gospel is not talking about the good ideas of a Christ philosophy, but the demonstration of the Spirit and power. The Body is alive only by One Spirit IN our souls, and yes, that does include our emotions – Love, joy, peace.

Laughing in Church
For the kingdom of God is not (outward) eating and drinking (and talking about mental ideas), but righteousness and peace and joy IN the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). And last time I checked, peace and joy, even laughing! were deep and penetrating human EMOTIONS. – That is, God. IN the Holy Spirit is literal. Yes, there is much in Scripture that is figurative, but us together IN the Holy Spirit is actual, real, substantial, literal, and required for anything to be the Kingdom of God.

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened (Matthew 7:7-8). – The ONLY entrance.

Communion
For by one Spirit we were all immersed into one body—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread (1 Corinthians 10:16-17). In both instances Paul is referring directly to the ritual of communion.

I highly value the outward practice of participating together in communion and would partake of that communion regularly. Yet the meaning of communion is mostly broken today.

Drinking One Cup
The significance of communion is NOT found in each one eating a little piece of bread and drinking a sip of grape juice from a little cup, even if they are doing it together. The communion is ONE cup of wine passed around, and each one drinking from that ONE cup and then ONE loaf of bread passed around, and each one breaking off a piece of that ONE loaf to eat. Christ IS a corporate man.

There is only One Jesus. You don’t have your own Jesus, and I mine. The Jesus IN you IS the Jesus IN me. The Spirit you drink IS the Spirit I drink. One Body and One Spirit (Ephesians 4:4).

God Now Among Us
You and I are so much more a part of one another than we have ever known or considered.

Now salvation, and power, and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren… has been cast down (Revelation 12:10).  We did not spend much time on these words in Symmorphy I: Purpose, even though they are part of the fourth most important verse in the Bible. These words are KINGDOM, that is, the fulfillment of the first Day of Tabernacles in the life of the church. The King James says, “NOW is come salvation,” God, now, among us in all knowing.

You and Me Together
I would take you by the shirt collar; I would confront you eye to eye. You and me? We will NEVER know life until we know one another, God among us, Tabernacles fulfilled! Christ IS a many-membered Body drinking of ONE Spirit.

From here on out the Kingdom of God is you and me walking together, setting creation free together. Yet this togetherness is NOT by dictate or plan, but by the spontaneous arising of One Holy Spirit. Each one of us drinks of this One Holy Spirit, AND all of us together drink of that same Spirit every single moment.

Power Code
Let’s return, now, to the metaphor of power code, of word carried by Spirit/electricity, to be written upon our hearts. For IN one Spirit we were all immersed into one body… and have all been made to drink one Spirit (modified to the Greek).

Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart (2 Corinthians 3:3). Let’s modify this also to the Greek) – You are a letter of Christ made visible, with us under your service, written, inscribed with Living Spirit on tablets of fleshy heart.

Swimming in Spirit Word
Our metaphor of the computer is limited in a specific way, contrary to how our reality of Spirit Word exists. In the computer, the power code flows only through the wires and hardware components of the computer. In our own experience, Spirit in the form of word, Spirit etching, inscribing Word, is all here now. We swim in that Spirit Word; we drink into us that Spirit Word.

I am speaking literally. The realms of the Spirit are literal and substantial. You see, “spiritualizing” the word is just another form of intellectual control over the Bible, making Spirit unreal. The elements of the Spirit are as real as the physical.

Carrying Code
Of course, wi-fi, or wireless frequency, transcends the limitation of the wires and works in a similar manner as our Holy Spirit.

There are six elements I know of that are capable of being spaced into code, code that can be read in some way. Those six elements are air carrying voice, ink inscribing letters, electricity carrying code, light carrying code, radio frequencies carrying code, and Spirit carrying code. In fact we live in a constant bath of television, radio, and cell-phone frequencies, ALL of which are marked, or measured in the form of code, that is, filled with billions of words, each word governing some aspect of sound or image when displayed through whatever device is appropriate.

Our Fleshly Hearts
And so, this bath of Living Spirit Word into which we are immersed and which we drink continuously into ourselves, is a Personal Energy Field that is measured entirely by Code carrying MEANING, that is, Father.
Now, Paul said that this Living Spirit “ink” is written upon, specifically, our FLESHLY hearts. Consider the diagram again from Symmorphy II: Essence regarding the heart energy field. This “writing” is a continuous transfer of Spirit Word meaning to our own heart energy fields.

A Living Word
I have heard the phrase, “Living Word” used for years, but I know that no one who used it understood it in this way. The reason is our definitions of “God” as a separate entity, a “deified” Father and even “Spirit,” that is, a form like an angel.

It’s not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.

Our only part is our permission, that is, you and I actively sinking into this constant writing of God upon our persons coming through a dynamic bath of Spirit always in the form of Word, that is, Jesus. The words on the pages of the Bible are simply another form, a form we can read and know, of that very Spirit Word in which we already live and which writes us as Christ our only life.

Yet here is how we place the words of the Bible. Those words are given to us by God so that we might know with our minds what is that very Power Code by which we exist.
