6.1 The All-Speaking of God

In the beginning in action was the Word and the Word was towards God and God was the Word (John 1:1). John did not say that “the Word was God,” but rather, that God was the Word. – And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light (Genesis 1:3).

God is using a simple metaphor to convey to us the essence of what He is and of how He becomes all that is in creation, including us. That metaphor is human speaking. The thoughts of the mind are words, yes, but they are known only by the one thinking. For a word to become known, it must first be spoken and second be heard. Word is first the Father’s thoughts; the Word spoken is Jesus.

All Become Through Him. All through Him become, and without him not even one thing became that has become (John 1:3). Everything that exists, comes into existence through God-speaking and is sustained every moment by His power-filled Word (with Hebrews 1:3). You exist ONLY because God speaks you inside of Christ and because Jesus sustains you every moment by His good-speaking.

That He might create inside Himself one new man (Ephesians 2:15). You are fabricated as a living being only inside of Jesus. Jesus exists right now in the form of a life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15), that is, all here now and personal towards and in each, yet He remains fully human, our pattern as human sons out from God, the first One of our kind (Romans 8:29).

The Words of God Spoken. Now, the primary topics of this chapter are two, the meaning of Voice in our existence as humans, and the incredible study of how God-Words become our human flesh. This shorter lesson, then, is an introduction to that topic and, specifically, that Jesus Himself is the Words of God spoken.

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). – “Word proceeding from the mouth of God” has a name, Jesus. All humans and all angels and all animals live only by the speaking of God that is Jesus. This speaking is active, continuous, and powerful. But most of all, it is utterly, utterly Personal.

The Cycle of Life. Refer back to Symmorphy III: Kingdom, 3.1 “The Cycle of Life.” Jesus as Word is continuously being spoken out from the Father and is continuously returning to the Father as that Word fulfilled. Yet this continuous action is then stretched across the story of our human lives. The micro of a continuous movement becomes the macro of Jesus returning to the Father having brought us to the full state of being just exactly like Him.

Most Christian thinking could be called ‘Deism’; that is, that God created everything separate from Himself then left everything to operate entirely on its own with no more input from Him. This way of thinking must defy all gospel verses in order to perpetuate its ignorance in the Christian mind.

What Are We? Christ, Who is energeoing all down to the finest details of the counsel and deliberate wisdom arising out of God’s desire (Ephesians 1:11). – There are many different effects of Energeia, but the same God who energeoes all inside of all (1 Corinthians 12:6).

The overwhelming testimony of Scripture is that everything exists every moment by the ACTIVE involvement of God through Jesus as Word spoken. And this is why we are spending so much time on the connection between God and man, for we can know ourselves, what we are, no other way.

We interpret 1 John 3:2 in this way, as an utterly profound – We do NOT know what we are.

Our Goal Is to Live. We have established that God, in Himself, is utterly and entirely
transcendent, which means He CANNOT be known. For this reason, we know that every element of theology, every intellectual idea ‘about’ God found separate from a living relationship with the Lord Jesus as Spirit Word, can be nothing more than dark gibberish. ‘Correct’ ideas cannot give life nor cause anyone even to exist.

Nonetheless, to live, according to Jesus, you and I must KNOW God (John 17:3). And we know God only through Jesus as every Word God continuously and actively speaks. Our goal is not to exist as humans, but to LIVE as humans, and actively KNOWING is the difference between the two.

Words That Are Spoken. What do we mean, then, when we say that Jesus is every Word God speaks, the All-Speaking of God? The short answer is – I don’t have a clue.

Assuming complete ignorance, then, we set before our eyes what God actually says, allowing Jesus to show us Himself. All confidence that God is telling us the truth MUST come before any true understanding. First, Jesus is not every Word inside of God, that is, the infinite number of unspoken thoughts that God possesses that have nothing to do with creation. Rather, Jesus is every Word that God sends out from Himself to become or to be known by created beings.

Good and True. Jesus, as spoken Word, is the becoming known of God.

Now, God is not a “moral” God; that is, God never chooses between “right and wrong.” As we saw, in all the vast fields of thoughts that are God, there is not one shadow or hint of hurt. God does not know contrary thoughts or contrary words. In contrast, as we also saw, God’s thoughts can be defined absolutely by two words – GOOD and TRUE. Therefore, every Word God speaks, the becoming known of God through Christ Jesus, is also GOOD and TRUE. We live inside of absolute GOOD and absolute TRUE.

GOOD and TRUE Words are the fabric of the universe and of our lives.

Opposing Words. Now, this course is about human completion, not human redemption. Nonetheless, it is God who set into place the opportunity for an opposing word. God said, “Let there be light.” The highest angel said, “Did God indeed say?

The serpent cannot “invent” any new word; all he is able to do is to turn God’s words ever so slightly – and that only in the minds of humans. Humans are the ones with the ability to confuse the words God speaks in every possible direction. It is the human mind that imagines God-Word to be not-good and not-true in every conceivable way.

The Right to Speak. It is in this context, then, that we understand Isaiah’s words. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

This is why “homologia,” speaking the same word, is central to the gospel of our completion. We have God’s good and true words about ourselves, and when we speak God’s words concerning us, our whole thinking comes into tune with God’s thoughts. We have the RIGHT to speak. – Whoever believes into Him has the RIGHT to become children birthed out from God (John 1).

Are Spirit and Are Life. Here is the defining absolute over the Words God speaks. The Spirit is giving life; {the mind and thoughts of} the flesh benefit nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life (John 6:63).

There can be no such thing as “just words.” There are no words that are not anointed by some spirit. For that reason, we could say it this way. “The words that are contrary to My Words are also spirit, but they are death.”

When we say, “Every Word God speaks,” then, we are acknowledging the Lord Jesus, yes, but most of God speaking is none of our business. Rather, my business is God speaking towards me, the Words that become me, personally.

Human Freedom. As we saw, then, here is the essence of human freedom, not in our form nor in our expression nor in the circumstances of life coming our way. Human freedom is the liberty to spin any story of words I wish to spin inside my human soul.

If any human is free to spin contrary words in their own minds to define themselves and to direct their way, then I am equally FREE to speak God’s words concerning me as Christ made personal as me. I have the right to speak Christ; I have the right to have God’s Words become the story of my own mind, GOOD and TRUE. This power over my own story of self is what makes me human.

The Entrance of Your Words. Ezra’s long poem, Psalm 119, is all about word. I suggest that you read it, BUT – as you do, always let the ruling verses of the gospel rule over how you hear every line. Every word meaning “word,” testimony, precepts, commandments, etc., is the Lord Jesus as the All-Speaking of God AND – every word is written upon our hearts, not as mechanics, but as our very LIFE.

Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them. The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple (verses 129-130). Here is another way to say the exact same thing – Christ lives inside of my heart through faith.

To Know God. (Verse 131) I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your commandments. – If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

Our human life is not Jesus as every Word, but Jesus entering into us as every Word God speaks concerning us. Yet our human freedom gives us the right to receive or to refuse. Our liberty is forged in the REFUSAL to speak or to think any word contrary to Christ made personal as us.

This is age-unfolding LIFE, to know You, the only TRUE God (GOOD) and Jesus Christ whom You have sent (John 17:3). To know God, we must speak the same Word He speaks concerning ourselves; knowing God and knowing ourselves happen by the same Personal Living Spirit Words.
