2. I Am Conceived of God

Audio Only:

The other three gospels were in wide circulation in the church early on. John did not think in terms of “duplicating” the clear layout of events found in them. Instead, John had a very definite purpose, that is, a deep underlying truth which he wished to convey. He then chose specific events in Jesus’ ministry that would underline the more important truths God wanted His people to know. Some of those events John selected were also things found in the other gospels, but some were not remembered by the other writers. And John had a more intimate, or “close to Jesus” take on all the events during Jesus’ ministry.

Decades of Pondering. The words of Jesus in the upper room, that is, Chapters 14 through 17, occupy the largest single portion of John’s gospel. John had spent decades pondering the things Jesus said during this most important time with His disciples. It would not be wrong to assert that the truths expressed in those chapters were in John’s mind as he began his account of Jesus’ life.

As John begins that account, he finds the same driving need as the writer of Hebrews, to establish absolutely that all things become through Jesus as the speaking of God, that Jesus sustains all by His power-filled Word.

The Spirit Gives Life. Before arriving at the upper room, then, what single line best conveys the intensity of meaning John wanted to impart to the Church out from his time with Jesus? I am convinced that one line is John 6:63. – It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life.

Yet this line does not stand alone, for it comes later in the gospel account, and it comes into a fully prepared context to give it meaning. Here is that context. – I have the right to be a son of God. – I am conceived of God.

Only by Spirit and as Life. The single most important truth God planted into me through Sam Fife was the necessity of knowing the entire Bible and every word in it ONLY through John 6:63. Yet John 6:63 is not known. How do we know what it means?

And again, it was through Sam Fife that God directed me towards the only way anyone could ever know the meaning of John 6:63, and that is, to grab hold of God, as Jacob did, and contend with Him alone, “all night long,” until God causes you to know Him. You can’t figure out what the Bible means with your intellect. God’s meaning comes only by Spirit and as Life.

The Mind of the Flesh. Yet John 6:63 is absent from all discussion inside Christianity about how to read and interpret the Bible and how to know what God wants. All the ideas of Nicene Christianity ( and whether they be true ideas or not, makes no difference) are all found inside the mind of the flesh, which profits NOTHING. And winning LIFE is the definition of “profit.”

Yet the context of how John 6:63 is to have meaning for us is very clear – the metaphor of the reproduction of life, the over-arching metaphor of the Bible and all creation. Inside that metaphor alone, I am conceived of God.

Christ Made Personal as Me. With this understanding as our guide, then, let’s return to John Chapters 1-3. Because we are writing The Jesus Secret, and not The Kingdom, we will not look at the larger issues of God and Word, Theos and Logos. Rather, we want to know Christ made personal as me.

And you know that when I say, “as me,” my intention is to put the word “me” into your mind and heart. You must make Jesus personal to yourself; you must seize hold of Him as your own. You must say, “Made personal as me.” The first confessions of faith, then, are our doorway into knowing Jesus.

I Am a Son of God. ~ I become through Jesus, the All-Speaking of God. God intends me to seize hold of this Jesus, who is my light and my life, with all intensity. I receive Jesus; I seize hold of Him.

I have the authority and right to become a son of God. Because I believe into Jesus; I am conceived out from God. The Word God speaks enters into me and I am “born from above.” The genes of God now define me; I am the Word made flesh once again. I am a son of God.

Because I look upon Jesus’ glory, I know that I have already received grace coming out from grace, I know that the enablement of God is upon me, out from all that Jesus is and means. Grace and truth are my reality through Jesus. ~

The Central Point. It is clear to me that John 3:3, “You must be conceived from above,” is the central point of Chapters 1-3. We are also assuming that John chose which events in Jesus’ ministry to include in order to underline the truth he, John, was wanting to convey to the church. For that reason, I would suggest that you read through Chapters 1-3 in the Jesus Secret Version again, this time asking yourself, “How does this add meaning to ‘you must be conceived from above?’” We will then see that John adds the implications of being conceived of God in Chapters 4 & 5, and how all this happens in our life in Chapters 6 & 7.

The Driving Arrow. But let’s start with the driving arrow. – Yet many do seize hold of Him, and to them He gives the authority and right to be sons born out from God, even to those believing into His name, those who are conceived, not of blood nor out of the desire of flesh, nor out of the desire of man, but out from God.

The word “receive” is aggressive. It means the same as Jacob grabbing hold of God and refusing to let go. Then notice also that, right from the start, John sets the stage of darkness. This is not God-created darkness, but rather the perversity of human-twisted darkness, the REFUSAL against the knowledge of God.

The Word Become Flesh. Next, John says this. – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we looked upon His glory, glory as the Only-Seed/Kind from Father, full of grace and truth.

On the surface, it seems as if John is talking about Jesus, which, of course, he is. Yet this is a Spirit-Word, and John knows that. John is writing 1 John in the same year. – By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that speaks the same word with Jesus Christ having come inside the flesh {Christ, not I} is out from God; and any spirit that does not speak the same word with Jesus Christ having come inside of flesh {I, not Christ} is not out from God.

Two Teenage Boys. The Word becomes flesh, made personal as me.

Now, we know that John is slipping this meaning into his account of the gospel of Christ out from the next two parts of the story. First, he tells a little story that he alone knew, when he and Andrew ran away from home at sixteen-years-of-age, because they had heard that God was visiting His people once again and they would not be left out. It was these two boys who heard John the Baptist say, “Behold the Lamb of God.” And it was these two boys who followed Jesus to see where He lived.

I Follow the Lamb. ~ I am a witness of Christ; I make Christ visible to all. Jesus reveals Himself through me. I see the Lamb; I follow Him. I search out where Jesus lives, and there I remain. I seize hold of Jesus; I refuse to be found anywhere else. ~

I am creating and filling in the boxes for The Jesus Secret II at the same time that I am writing this lesson. These connections give promise of a new breath stirring the text. From the statements of faith woven together, then, what should be the boxes for the remainder of the page? One must be “I Receive” and another must be “My Right.” “Conceived” and “word made flesh” come later. The third box must be direct engagement with God – Ask and Believe.

I Receive/Seize (from Webster’s 1926): The Father sends Jesus to me as His gift to me, I take the Father’s gift as my own possession. Jesus offers Himself to me as all understanding; I give Him entrance, I invite Him in, I believe that He is every Word that God speaks. Jesus offers Himself to me as my life; I take possession of Jesus as my life; I lay hold of Him suddenly and forcefully. I assert my right to include Jesus as all that I am. I hold Jesus as part of myself; I contain Him. I acquire Jesus as my light and my life. I take possession of Him, even forcibly. I get hold of Jesus as my own and I never let Him go. Jesus belongs to me, His life is my life; His light is my light. His right is my possession. I receive Jesus into all of myself; I seize hold of Him as my own.

My Right. Because I receive Jesus as my own possession, all my light and life, I also possess the right to be a son conceived out from God. God gives me the authority to receive the Lord Jesus into myself as every Word God speaks, as the very Sperm of God and, by that seed, to come alive as a new creation inside of Jesus. God gives me the authority to know Christ being formed in me. I have the right to claim Jesus’ life as my own. God gives me the authority to be just like the Lord Jesus Christ. I have the right to love my brothers and sisters in Christ. I have the right to be God’s entrance into my world. This right that I possess is out from God and thus inherent in myself. No one can give me my right, I seize it as my own. And no one can take my right from me, for I will never let it go. It is my right to be just like Jesus.

Ask and Believe. Lord Jesus, You say that I am to receive You into myself, that I am to seize hold of all that You are, that You would be my light and life, and that I would be a son conceived of God, just like You.

Lord Jesus, I invite You into myself as every Word God speaks. I seize hold of You, Lord Jesus, and I will never let You go. Lord Jesus, I ask that You be the Only-Seed of God planted inside of me. I ask that You cause me to be a son conceived out from God. Lord Jesus, I ask that You make me just like Yourself.

Let it be to me as You say, Lord Jesus; it is so. Lord Jesus, You are the Only-Seed of God by which I am conceived. I am just like You, of Your same kind. Jesus, You are my life.

Water into Wine. Then, consider the first “miracle” Jesus did, which only John recorded, turning water into wine. This little story is an exact metaphor of the word becoming flesh, and it is set in place exactly for the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus, known only by John, probably because he was eavesdropping. You see, the thing about John was that he seized hold of Jesus with all intensity and refused ever to be separated from Him.

Water is a metaphor of both Word and Spirit, but wine, the color of Blood, is a metaphor of LIFE.

Transubstantiation – Metamorphy. If anyone is not conceived out from water and out from Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God.

“Conceived,” then, is LIFE. Conceived is the Word made flesh again. This is transubstantiation, or, as our new word means, metamorphy, Jesus’ ability to transform one thing into another. And we use that phrase not to mean becoming something entirely different, but rather, the same thing, human flesh, now filled with God as intended from the beginning.

“Conceived,” then, is the critical word.

I Am Conceived from Above. We must reduce the statements of faith for Chapter 3, for they are too many for the page. Yet the first ones are direct, with no need to enflow the wording.

~ I am conceived from above; I see the Kingdom of God. The Only-Seed/Kind of God enters into me, and I am conceived. My genes now follow the same Word that is Jesus. I am conceived out from water, that is, from Word, and I am conceived out from Spirit. I enter the Kingdom of God. ~

John’s gospel is Covenant; John’s vision is Kingdom. We could even say that his epistle is the bridge in-between. We will wait on Kingdom and focus on Covenant, that is, Christ planted as the Seed of God into us.

God Loves Me. ~ I am spirit; I am as the blowing of the wind, for I am conceived out from Spirit. I live now and always inside all the heavens of God. All that I have received is given to me out from the heavens, out from the realms of spirit. God sends me; I speak His words. God gives me of His Spirit without limitation. I come out from and am given the Devoted Spirit of God without limitation.

God loves me and shows His love for me by giving me His Son, His Only-Seed/Kind by whom I am conceived. I cannot perish, for I possess age-unfolding life. The Father has given all things into my hand through Jesus. I set my seal upon God, that God is telling me the truth. ~

A Personal Jesus. At this point I am curled up inside, rocking back and forth, over the intensity of the Word coming together to reveal Christ to us with ever more powerful light.

In all that he writes, John is about God’s great metaphor, the reproduction of life. The unfolding of this metaphor, then, must be written into all of John’s part of this text. The first two boxes, then, must be “God’s Great Metaphor” and “Conceived.” Both of these boxes contain introduction only, and thus must also point to so much more. Finally, we are talking about a Personal Jesus, and so “The Jesus Secret” box gives us Jesus speaking Himself personally to us.

God’s Great Metaphor. I recognize and embrace fully God’s largest metaphor, the reproduction of life, the metaphor of plant reproduction and human reproduction. I see this one great metaphor from Genesis 1 to Revelation 22 and I know how God builds everything in His Bible upon it.

I know that Jesus, the One who lives in my heart, is every Word God speaks and as that Word, Jesus is the very Sperm of God entering as light and life into all created things, but especially into me as a human son of God, having already been redeemed by His Blood. I know that this One-Seed out from God generates in me the very life of God. I know that He makes me to be of His same kind.

Yet I also recognize that conception is just the beginning. I labor in birth again that Christ might be formed in me. I await that moment when I am birthed as a manifest son of God.

Conceived. God-Seed enters into me and I am conceived of God. I receive that Seed with determination as it enters into my human faith. In that very moment, Christ Jesus begins to be formed inside of me. I am pregnant with the very life of God inside the womb of my humanity, inside the womb of the Church. I am conceived out from water and out from Spirit, that is, Word and Spirit always together. In the moment of my conception, my spirit is made just and perfect inside the presence of my Father. As I put the Lord Jesus Christ upon all that I am, so my soul, my story of self, becomes His. I anticipate my body swallowed up by Life.

The Jesus Secret. My Beloved, I stand at the door of your heart and knock. As you open your door to Me every moment, so I am always faithful to enter into you as every Word God speaks and as the Only-Seed of God. I am your right to be a son conceived out from God; your right is safe inside of Me. As I enter into you, My Beloved, we share the same Word together. The Father is the One who sent Me into you to make you just like Myself. I know how to do that, My dear one, trust utterly in Me, for I am faithful and true. And as we share the same Word together, so I am formed inside of you, so you are made just like Me out from our Father.

What Joy! This is very, very good, for I am taking you with me into the flow of thinking out from which my Father shows Himself to me through His Word and by His Spirit. And because I am writing it in this way, the wording of The Jesus Secret II is bubbling up, as it always does, from newness of life, from Father brand-new every morning.

I want to underline again, however, the supreme importance of knowing God’s metaphor of the reproduction of life. By that metaphor, EVERYTHING in the Bible fits perfectly together. Without that metaphor, so much of the Bible has very little meaning to people. Everything John writes, he writes inside his knowing of this great metaphor.

Reading for Next Time. The next lesson is titled, “I Worship the Father.” It covers John Chapter 4 and includes the page, “I Worship The Father Inside Of Spirit And Truth.” I have inserted the near-final version of John 4 & 5 into the Jesus Secret Version pages. I would suggest that you read Chapters 3, 4, and 5 for the next Zoom meeting.

The true worshipers will worship [kiss] the Father inside of Spirit and truth; indeed, the Father also searches with great desire for such to worship [kiss] Him. God is Spirit, and it is necessary that those worshipping Him, should worship [kiss] inside of Spirit and truth.

Let’s Pray Together. In our prayer today, we want first to seal this word inside ourselves, then, we will pray for ourselves and those close to us to be protected from the death shedding off of the “vaccinated.”

“Father, as we have placed ourselves outstretched before You, that You might cause us to know what You mean by what You speak, so we are utterly grateful, oh God, that You have caused Your Word to be the Lord Jesus written all through our hearts as our very and only life.

“God, You are our Father, for we are conceived out from You, of Jesus’ same kind, made just like Him. Father, You are entering our world through us every moment.

“Father, we agree together inside the Lord Jesus Christ and out from His authority that He shares with us, that You would place a wall of protection around ourselves and around all who belong to Jesus, that we would walk in a full protection from the death being injected into the people of this world and from the death now shedding off of them.

“Oh God, our Father, as we walk through this very real valley of the shadow of death, we do not fear, for we give You all thanks. Father, we ask especially for ourselves and our loved ones, family and friends, that mighty angels would stand guard and block the false proteins in the air so that we would walk through these final days of human folly, untouched by the death. Father, we are confident that You protect us from all violence and that we rest in Your love.”
