14. The Power of the Mercy Seat
Two things are required for us to know the power of God flowing through us to effect the knowledge of God as it is needed inside our world. The point of miracles is not the miracles, but that the Father might be known and glorified as God.
Miracles as miracles don’t cut it, as was demonstrated in Jesus’ ministry. Wanting to make Jesus “king” was not the desired effect; it was not the Father glorified. Rather, Father glorified happened in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost, a Church filled with Christ Jesus, the direct and intended purpose of everything Jesus said and did.
The two things required are confidence inside of God and giving out from God. These two are always together, and they are the result only of an intimate, real, and ongoing engagement with God through Jesus as Word and Spirit together. These two also come together out from two underlying actions forming our daily lives, giving thanks and expecting God.
Yet we could say all of that in one line – knowing Jesus Sent into us.
This letter is about that power now flowing through us into our world, and specifically how confidence inside of God and the giving of Life out from God work together to effect what some will call “miracles,” but which we will know only as the obvious and simple reality of a God just being Himself inside His creation.
Before we can look at such power, we must discover the meaning of all the New Testament verses containing the word entugchanó, “inside of the One who always connects us with God,” typically translated “intercession,” but which means so very, very much. And we must know that word in the single strongest metaphor of God-with-us, the Mercy Seat.
The word that was actually used in the arrow shooting contest for hitting the mark was tugchanó, that is, the opposite of missing the mark, or hamartia, typically translated “sin.” Much of the time, when tugchanó is used, it is translated as “obtain,” and yet “to experience” is also a choice, and often the better choice.
One verse containing tugchanó that is of use to us here is Hebrews 8:6. Now, however, He actively experiences a more excellent ministry, as much as He is also the mediator or go-between of a better covenant which has been enacted upon better promises.
As you can see, “to actively experience a more excellent ministry,” is, in fact, our topic. The word, entugchanó, however, goes to a deeper level of reality in the Spirit. It is used four times in the epistles, three of which fit this study, and a fifth time with “hyper” as a second prefix.
In the same way, the Spirit also joins as help together with our weakness, that is, personally seizes hold of our need as our help; for we are not aware of the things that are necessary for us to pray, but the Spirit personally brings us in line with Father for the sake of others, with inexpressible groanings (Romans 8:26 – huperentugchanó).
Even more than that, the One [Jesus as Word] who is actively searching hearts to know present needs, is aware of the heart-gut thinking of the Spirit, because, according to all that is God, He joins us together with God – inside complete and absolute connection [the Mercy Seat] – for the sake of those who are devoted [the Church] (Romans 8:27).
Who is the one condemning? Christ Jesus, the One having died, rather, having been raised out from the dead, is also inside the right hand of God and is continuously and actively connecting us together with God (Romans 8:34).
Wherefore also, Jesus is able to save into all salvation those approaching God through Him, always living for them as their full connection with God, always “hitting the mark” for their sakes (Hebrews 7:25).
We can see through these verses that we cannot separate between the Spirit and Christ Jesus, for it is the Spirit of His Son whom God has given to us. Yet all of these lines also speak of our connection with God our Father. I think we can truly say that these verses are specific expressions of our sharing Hheart with God. And 1 John 3:16 tells us that what Jesus does for us, we do the same for one another, which actually is the “hyper” part.
In our primary text, Romans 8:26-27, I placed the Mercy Seat as the most vivid and telling picture God gives us of sharing Hheart with Him for the sake of others. We are (1) seated upon Blood, (2) upon the Covenant; we are (3) protected by Keep and Make Devoted. We are (4) the tip point of the Pillar of Fire, the Energeia of the Spirit, and we (5) look out upon our brethren, the Church, (6) enclothed with the compassions, the Bowels of God. We (7) share Jesus with God.
All of this is for one purpose – God through us into our world, starting with all our Christian brethren drawing near to God inside the Devoted Place and out from the Altar of Incense.
The movement, the Flow, the GIVING, then, is the Spirit, God’s Spirit, yet also the Spirit of His Son given to us. The Spirit is the Energeia of God out from the heavens, which means, out from the depths of the All-Sustaining, All-Carrying God. That same Spirit, then, is part of us, for otherwise the Energeia of God could not flow through us. Then, out from our bellies, seated upon Mercy, there flows RIVERS of Spirit into all creation, bringing life and healing to all.
The key to all of this, the thing that unlocks the Door and opens the Floodgates wide, is sunantilambanomai. The Spirit of God in complete union with our dying bodies – as the expression inside of creation of the very travail of the All-Sustaining One, the great pressure required to BRING FORTH LIFE – the knowledge of God into the knowledge of all.
We do not know what to “pray,” but the Spirit does. This is part of the wondrous joining of God’s Spirit with our human weakness. Yet our human weakness possesses something not given to the Spirit. Let me bring in the larger context.
“I have trodden the winepress alone, and from the peoples no one was with Me. For I have trodden them in My anger, and trampled them in My fury; their blood is sprinkled upon My garments, and I have stained all My robes. For the day of vengeance is in My heart, and the year of My redeemed has come. I looked, but there was no one to help, and I wondered that there was no one to uphold; therefore My own arm brought salvation for Me; and My own fury, it sustained Me. I have trodden down the peoples in My anger, made them drunk in My fury, and brought down their strength to the earth” (Isaiah 63:3-6).
God sent Jesus into creation as a Man, so that through His human emotions, and the agony of His Soul, Jesus might sweep away all the lies, and might bring Salvation to God, that is, you and me, now joined with our Father inside of Jesus’ own passion.
Then Jesus says to us, “Just as the Father sent Me forth, so I also send you. – Receive Spirit Devoted” (John 20:21-22 – reduced).
This is the primary work of the Devoted Spirit in our lives, to join with our human passion and the agony of our souls, that we might be the Highway for our God into our world, a Highway called Travail.
Now, this letter is not on “the Mercy Seat,” but on the power flowing through that Mercy Seat. And the power flowing through goes first into the Church, bringing those of our brethren who have drawn near, into the full knowledge of God and of the Flow of Gospel Word, that they also might Turn Around, seated upon Blood.
With this background of understanding, I want to change my focus and approach. I want to become very real towards all Christians alive today.
In one of my limited travels, I was challenged with the question, “What do you want to do, start a cult?” In the mind of the questioner, Christian community could be only a “cult.”
But consider Moses leading the children of Israel out of Egypt and into the wilderness to “meet with God.” In today’s world, a similar occurrence would be branded entirely as a “cult” – and of the worst kind. Consider Peter and John, leading thousands of new and Spirit-filled believers in Jesus into the full expression of Christ Community for the first eight years of the Church, in Jerusalem. In today’s world, a similar occurrence would be considered only a “cult,” something to be shunned by “normal” Christians.
Then think of “normal” Christians in our world today, from deeper truth to Eastern Orthodox, and everything in-between. Of all of them, the Roman Catholic Church has likely the most “cult-like” structure, especially since it contains so much paganism. Yet it is considered perfectly “normal.”
None of that is Church as God means Church to be, as we see such a glorious thing in the Flow of Gospel Word. Not the least of which is that no one sees the Church as Jesus now here, nor as God’s Salvation flowing through her now into all creation.
Yet the Bible prophesies such a Church.
As I shared in the last letter, sometime in the end of September, beginning of October, 2025, a great change came into my life and into my experience with God. That change is an anointing to give everything I am to the Father as His Intercession for the Church, that Jerusalem would be a praise in all the earth. And inside that anointing, I carry the distinct and fierce impression that I am seized into God and that my prayer for the Church proceeds out from the Father.
A few days ago, the question came to me again with clarity – What do I want?
And in that clarity, I knew, without question, that I want to start a “cult.”
A Church, many, many Christians all across the earth, moving together as the Completion of the Gospel in our world today, can be considered by all other humans, Christians or not, only as a “CULT!”
Since my early twenties, in receiving the Word God spoke into me through Sam Fife, I have held before my eyes the view of a Church, now upon the earth, that is greater far in all expression of power and togetherness than those expressions of Church shown to us by Moses and Joshua, an entire nation departing this world system and entering into all the life of Christ, or by Peter and John in the initial and partial fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles in the life of the Church during its first eight years, a people gathered together into Christ and into Christian Community.
Those two point to the REAL, a REAL I must know and be part of. And that REAL is nothing like the shallow and insipid expressions of “normal” Christianity that have been the only thing known for nearly 2000 years.
Look through the prayers I have written over the last five years, and that we have prayed together in faith. We have believed that God hears and answers us, as we must.
But what if our prayers would be fulfilled in outward experience? – We would have on our hands a full-blown cult.
And the BIGGEST question, the only question that would consume us, is the same question that consumed Paul. – How do we care for such a Church? It is the same question that consumed Jesus. – “Zeal for Your House has eaten Me up.”
In my experience in the move of God, God gave me a powerful and experiential answer to that question. I know what it takes to start a “cult,” and what it takes to successfully guide such a thing into mature expressions of LIFE together.
What I see as the Church and what is now upon the earth are two strikingly and vastly opposing things. For there to be Church as God speaks Church, something BIG must happen. And inside that BIG thing happening, there must be a gathering together and a submission to God’s ministry and order.
And when I say, “Being a Witness of Christ,” this zeal for God’s House, this great watch-care, this labor and commitment to a new thing upon the earth inside Christianity, is what I mean.
I know the kind of person Sam Fife was and the commitment and drive of his entire life. I know the men and women he gathered around himself as a corporate ministry. I know their commitment and strength in devoting everything they were to CARE for God’s people in every way, in Word, in Power, in sharing all, in guidance, year after year, decade after decade, with never a thought for themselves.
I KNOW what it takes, and I know that I have NONE of it – except one thing. I do want to start a “cult,” even though I can’t. (And I am using this word, not as most people think, but rather, to underline the fact that to be part of God’s Church as God means Church requires such a Church to happen.)
But I have something that Sam Fife and the ministry of that fellowship did not have. I have the wondrous Flow of Gospel Word, a Gospel of Completion, yet even that is limited, for only around forty people receive what I share with some level of seriousness.
Then we come to Tabernacles of 2025 and the anointing now upon me, and you as well, to believe that God moves through every part of our inability in power into His Church.
Have no fear. I am incapable of starting a cult or of leading millions of Christians into any dead-end canyon as all others have since the first eight years of the early Church.
When Sam Fife spoke, however, thousands of people, people of great integrity, people seeking God with all their hearts, heard God speaking to them, in power. And thousands of people sold all that they had in order to follow Jesus.
When I speak, nothing happens. It seems to me and everyone else that my words are empty.
Yet I am overwhelmed by the Word God speaks. – “It’s not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord. And this zeal for the Flow of Gospel Word, more precious to me than life itself, and with it this zeal for God’s House, Jerusalem, that a people might bring this Word to completion now upon the earth, this zeal just eats me up.
More than that, I see what is unfolding upon the earth right now, and I know that if you are not scared witless, you are clueless. I know that something BIG must counteract the great unfolding of evil, the great accusation against God going out into all the earth, that the Bible, the God of the Bible, and the Christians who support such a wicked thing – are EVIL.
I see the murderous intent of Marxism forcing its way into everything. And I look at the explosion of artificial intelligence and of robotics, especially in, but not limited to, China, and I know that if God does not cleanse this earth with fire within five year’s time, we are all toast.
Then I look at the God who has seized me into Himself, and I look at the power made available to me, a power that is not human, a power the contains NO human ability, the power of the Mercy Seat. And I think to myself, “Why not?” – What could I lose if I gave myself to the expectation of faith, that God through me would raise up such a Church now upon the earth, without needing anything from me except my joyous agreement?
So, when I say, “the power of the Mercy Seat,” I am speaking of something very specific. I am speaking of that POWER that brings into existence upon this earth a Church like no other, a Church, a Christian “sect,” a “cult,” if that’s what you want to call it, that is far greater than the Church of Moses and Joshua’s day, far greater than the Church of Peter and John’s day, far greater than anything ever experienced in human history, millions of believers in Jesus gathering together into Christ, into God’s order for His Church, into Christ Community, into the bringing forth of the knowledge of God into creation.
I have a number of topics penciled out inside this larger topic of “Being a Witness of Christ,” but as I write on these things, including what’s going on in the world, they are there only to showcase this one thing – bringing forth God’s Tabernacles Church now upon the earth – the real Jerusalem.
Now that we know what this power is for, at least as far as I am concerned, let’s return to the power of the Mercy Seat so that we might know how to proceed.
We could also say, “the power of the Ekenosis,” for that is what we are doing, we are calling God into the Church, and we are calling the Church, millions of believers in Jesus, into God.
I started to watch a YouTube video called “The 48 Principles of Power.” I quit after the second “principle.” The power being sought was how to dominate others to strip from them what you want for malevolent self-gain. And they had clearly left out the first two principles, (1) absolute confidence that “I” am superior, and (2) utter devotion to the purpose of “me.”
For a brief moment, I compared their “principles” with what the opposite would be, but stopped in knowing that the Power of the Mercy Seat, the power of Life, is something entirely different. There might be parallels, but for us to know such power, we “study” Jesus.
And yes, this is the power to do good, the power to give to this one precisely what this one needs in this moment, out from God and according to the Grace given to us, that is, we give what we have, not what another might have.
I have just opened an immense topic of which I know little, but which we need to know as sons of our Father. And I am thinking of many avenues down which we could go. I want to stay, however, with this one focus, calling God into the knowledge of His Church now upon the earth and calling that Church into the knowledge of God.
Right now we have three things. (1) Give what is needed, (2) give according to what we have, our own form filled with Jesus, and (3) give inside the pattern of the Mercy Seat.
What do our fellow Christians NEED right now?
The obvious answer is the Apocalypse. They need the cover removed from their eyes so that they can see Jesus as He is. But Jesus, “knowing what is in man,” did not assume; He asked! And He did not ask, “What do you need?” He asked, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
This is the Mercy Seat. Jesus placed Himself only as the personal connection between the Person of the Father and this one individual, inside their own humanity, according to the longing of their own hearts. He never assumed that He was smarter than they.
What do we have to give, according to the Grace given to each one of us?
Writing the Gospel Comments for Ephesians is changing my life. – But to each one of us has been given grace, according to the measure to each of the gift of Christ. – The One having descended is the same One who also ascended above all the heavens that He might fill all, that is, that He might make all complete by filling them to capacity with Himself (Ephesians 4:7 & 10).
Jesus, in filling us, fits Himself to our own form or design. That’s easy to understand. When you pour concrete, it flows to fit the forms you have already built. The examples are endless.
I know what it takes to bring forth a move of God, to call thousands of serious people of great integrity into a whole new way of living, and to call God into their ongoing experience. I saw it happen and I observed the vessel through whom God was fitting Himself, Brother Sam Fife.
Brother Sam had four essential qualities, among others, I’m sure, inside his human frame: (1) Utter and single-minded devotion to the revelation of Jesus Christ through His Church, through Christian Community, (2) a lack of self-assumption, to the extent of placing himself always under the covering of others, (3) an unswerving confidence that God was with him in all, speaking and moving through him, even in the face of the strongest of people, and (4) unlimited reservoirs of energy in his human frame, spirit, soul, and body.
I also have been given Grace, according to the measure to me of the gift of Christ, but my “measure” is very different from Brother Sam’s, particularly point 4. I have almost no energy at all. I can learn from Sam Fife’s example, BUT, if the power of God is to flow through me into His Church, I CANNOT be like him, I must be only myself, God with me as He made me to be right now.
I said this somewhere, that God must bring us down to what we are, not what we imagine or want to be. Only when we are fully at peace with what we are, as God designed us, can we rest in a God flowing through us as Rivers.
In speaking of the grace given to each one of us, I cannot speak of you, for I don’t know you very well, or not at all. Thus I can speak only of myself, with the expectation that you will take the meanings and apply them to your own frame inside of God, very different from mine.
Without going into details, I know that God has filled my frame with this wondrous Flow of Gospel Word, beyond my wildest imagination and to the utter joy and satisfaction of my heart. But I also know that God has withheld from me all ability to connect this Word to many in power. I simply have no strength, spirit, soul, or body.
Yet here is a critical principle of the Mercy Seat. That Mercy Seat is each one of us, God through us into our world, AND that Mercy Seat is us together, both- and, never one without also the other. We are members of one another because we NEED what each other has. I NEED someone else, someone whose form designed by God has the capacity of connection with other people in the power of the Spirit, someone whom God has designed to fit with me. Yet I need much more than that; in fact, I NEED much and from many. This is God’s way, the nature of His Body.
The Mercy Seat then means that I, in myself as God made me, AND I together with you, as God fits us together, am the connection between God and His Church, not outwardly as if there is such a thing as a “vicar,” but in my sharing of Hheart with God. And you are the same.
For we have this Treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing beyond-ness of the power might be out from God and not of us (2 Corinthians 4:7).
Yet that power out from God fits us as we are, before it flows on out in the giving of Grace into the Church. And in flowing into that Church, it fits the exact need of each one in each ongoing moment.
The One who is able above all to do hyper-abundantly more than we ask or think, according to the power energeoing inside of us (Ephesians 3:20).
As I consider Ephesians now, out from writing this Flow of Gospel Word, I see in it such passion, such determination of God, to have for Himself such a Church on this earth as I am describing. And I see expressed through Paul such an earnest zeal to shepherd and care for such a Church.
Here is a list of potential chapters now going forward, “The Abomination that Makes Desolate," “Seized into God,” “The Failure of the World,” “And into His Throne,” “A Beast Risen Up,” “The Zeal of Your House,” and “Cleansed from All.” This list is very subject to change, but you can see some of my thoughts.
Nonetheless, these topics have one purpose only, and that is to showcase the power of God flowing through our own hearts now shared with God, the Mercy Seat, into the building together of God’s House, the Church now upon this earth, that God might fill that House with His Glory, that Rivers of Life might flow out from her into all creation.
