16.3 The Blood of Jesus

© 2015 Christ Revealed Bible Institute

The Blood of Jesus is absolute. The Blood of Jesus is more valuable than the entire universe.

The Blood of Jesus answers all claims against all acts of sin. The Blood of Jesus cleanses absolutely.

Jesus purchased our self from ourselves by His Blood. Since we are bought by Blood, we are valued by that Blood.

The Blood of Jesus always washes over us. The Blood of Jesus flows every moment over our eyes.

We see all things through the Blood of Jesus. The Blood of Jesus flowing through us is life forever.

Absolute Profundity
Since the Blood of Jesus is absolute, we must be absolute in our hearts and minds concerning the value, power, life, and reality of that Blood. There is a simple answer to the question: What about sin? That answer is – What about the Blood?

Absolute means FREE.
  • (Webster’s 1926) Free from imperfection; complete in its own character; perfect. Free from mixture; simple, pure. Free from limit, restriction, or qualification.
Profound, in this context, means an absolute depth and reach that includes ALL things inside its scope. The Blood cannot be limited or qualified. The Blood has already canceled out ALL sin in the universe.

Blood
  • Blood (Webster’s 1926): The fluid which circulates in the principal vascular system of animals, carrying nourishment and oxygen to all parts of the body, and bringing away waste products to be excreted.
You have already read the first three chapters of Dr. Paul Brand’s book, In His Image. Now I recommend that you read the next five chapters under the heading: Blood. Here are the chapter titles: Power, Life, Cleansing, Overcoming, Transfusing. You will be amazed and overwhelmed.

We could write five sessions on the Blood and hardly scratch the surface. The Blood of Jesus is the life of His entire Body. But here we are concerned with the cleansing of blood.

The Blood and the Way
Having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us. – Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience.

The Blood consecrates the way in which we walk, making our path holy and pure. All of His ways concerning us are perfect. He has never led us wrong; He has never not led us. Blood is the boldness by which we stride right into the holiest place in the universe, the very throne room of the Almighty. Blood is the boldness by which we sit down upon that throne. Upon Blood.

Stunned by Blood
You might suspect that, if I could, I would stun you with Blood. I would so imprint upon your mind and heart the absolute foundation and reality of that Blood by which you stand face to Face with the Almighty, by which you look God in the eye – if only I were capable of such a task.

Our hearts sprinkled. Jesus sprinkled His Blood once. Jesus sprinkled His Blood upon the Mercy Seat of Heaven. Jesus sprinkled His Blood upon our hearts. Look at your heart. Do you see those spots of Blood? You are looking at the throne of God. Is your heart not where Jesus sits? Is He not the King of the universe?

The Source of Life
God … raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:6). You are already seated upon that throne; you have already turned around.

It is by the Blood that we turn around; it is by the Blood that our way, this way in which we walk, is no longer “going into God,” but is now going forth together with God as rivers of living water bringing life and healing and joy to all.

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out (John 19:34). Here is the source of the river of life, the very Heart of Jesus, broken for us, the birthing of the Church.

A College Assignment
Sprinkled from an evil conscience.

When I was in college, we were given an assignment to trace out what the Bible actually says concerning a selected topic. We were not to regard what anyone else taught or said, but define that topic ONLY by what the Bible said. I selected the word “conscience” from the list. I also got into trouble when I handed in my assignment. The Bible said the opposite of what the leading ministries of our fellowship taught. You see, I had written out every verse in the New Testament containing the Greek word: Suneidésis: (From sýn, "together with" and eídō "to know, see") – properly, joint-knowing.

Conscience
The popular definition of “conscience” is a faculty of the human spirit by which we know intuitively that one action is evil and another action is good.
  • Conscience (Webster’s 1926): Sense or consciousness of the moral goodness or blameworthiness of one’s own conduct, intentions, or character, together with a feeling of obligation to do or be that which is recognized as good; —often with special reference to feelings of guilt or remorse for wrongdoing.
Wow – the definition of living in the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Here’s the thing. Jesus and the apostles did not use the word, suneidésis, to refer to any such thing.

Consciousness
Every time suneidésis is used in the New Testament, it is either 100% evil or it is 100% pure and holy and good. Specifically, those who see sin possess an evil consciousness, and those who see Christ or the Blood or goodness possess a pure consciousness.

Since the word was at times translated “consciousness,” I determined then that consciousness was what it really meant, since we know a word’s meaning only out from context clues. Consciousness is a knowledge or awareness of one’s own self. Consciousness is the story we tell ourselves about ourselves. Consciousness is the eyes out of which we see, the direction in which we are looking.

When I See the Blood
When I see the Blood. God said to Moses: When I see the blood, I will pass over you.

Read all of Hebrews 10; make note, here, of verses 1-4.

If the blood of an animal cleansed from sin, then there would be no more consciousness of sins. Then, Hebrews 9:11-14. But Christ came … not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. … how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience (consciousness) from dead works to serve the living God?

An Evil Consciousness
Sprinkled from an evil consciousness.

The popular definition of the Christian life is that we have two natures, one evil and the other good. Our task, then, is to suppress the evil part of us, knowing we will never be rid of it, and to take ourselves in hand, with a little bit of help from our far away God, and make ourselves do what the good side of us (Christ) tells us to do. This entire definition IS an evil consciousness. It provokes a continual looking out for evil in our hearts. In this contest, the ever present need to suppress evil always wins as the story of the mind and Christ becomes something only to attain someday, someday and far away.

No Consciousness of Sin
Whenever I look into myself, I see only the Blood. And then, looking through the Blood, I see only Christ filling my heart with His glory, filling all that I am with His Person. This has become my only consciousness, the only story I tell myself about myself.

I never ever look for evil, not in my heart nor in anyone else’s. I walk with no consciousness of sin. I enter the Holiest of All with absolute boldness of heart.

(Note: The appearance of evil does continue in the world, but other people are NOT the world. The world is the system of relationships among people and demons. The world is all evil.)

One or the Other
No consciousness of sin is a negative. We do not live by negatives; we live by Christ.

The problem with sin is not the sin itself; it is turning our eyes from Christ. To see sin is not to see Christ; to see Christ is not to see sin. One or the other. All pure or all evil.

You and me? We see Christ alone. When we look inside ourselves, the only thing we see is Christ. And the first part of Christ is Blood. We see all things through Blood; we live only by Blood; we enter the Holiest with all boldness by Blood.
