12.4 Human Psychosis

© 2015 Christ Revealed Bible Institute

We must take a brief look at the source of the fake human “self,” and the unending psychosis in which we have lived. There is NO human “self.” Man was created to be filled with another Person, Person inside of person, “you in Me and I in you.”

Now, empty of God in the imagination of his mind, man was still filled with another just the same. In which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience (Eph. 2:2). Filled with God or filled with demons, we take our pick.

The Progression of Insanity
Every element of the psychology of the false human story, the story of “myself” driving every human being into endless lying and pretending, accusing and being accused, can be found, however, in Adam’s sorry words in response to God’s voice. “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself” (Genesis 3:10).

1. I heard Your voice.
2. I knew I was naked. (cause, thus first)
3. I was afraid. (effect, thus second)
4. I hid myself.
All human folly and insanity are explained by this progression.

The False Self
But first we must know specifically how man eating of the law creates the false self, this self that “was afraid.” Death is hearing God speak as a command of performance. Life is hearing God speak as Jesus in our hearts fulfilling in us all that God speaks, which is Himself. A human CANNOT obey without at the same time and to the same measure, also disobey. The two are inseparable.

The law always marries blessing and curse. One half of Israel stood on one hill and spoke blessing, but heard cursing. The other half of Israel stood on the other hill and spoke cursing, but heard blessing. This is the false self.

“I,” Not Christ
The moment any human being thinks: “I will obey God,” by that thought the false self is created. Look carefully at that “I.” That is absolutely “I,” not Christ. The very action of connecting with word on the outside of himself, word over which he held full control, was itself disobedience. Thus Adam disobeyed before he ever tried to obey. Disobedience always precedes pretend obedience.

Jesus said, “Abide in Me and I in you. – The branch cannot bear fruit of itself.” No law, word under control, can ever give life. (Galatians 3:21)

Sustained by His Power
I hear Your voice. Here is the reality for all created beings, but especially for each and every individual human being in heaven and earth. Upholding (sustaining, carrying) all things by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3). These words are part of the description of God in action that EVERYONE leaves out of their thinking.

You, dear reader, and all humans and every created thing, are coming every moment, immediate and now, out from the good speaking of Jesus, speaking you by goodness every moment. You are nothing other than the speaking of Jesus; you exist only by His voice.

The Voice of God
Everyone, all humans and all angels, hear the Voice of God speaking themselves into existence every moment. That’s how and why they exist. And that speaking is always goodness. Jesus curses no one.

Adam’s words show us how, not the law, not the word God speaks in outward form, but rather, how human and angelic PRETENDING to “obey” imagines the false self into existence. The law, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, is entirely pure and holy and good. But God did not create human flesh for the law. God created human flesh to be filled with Christ, with Himself.

Naked
I know I am naked. How? How do you know any such thing, Adam?

Adam’s words mean two things, both awful. First, Adam hates himself as the image of God; he looks at himself and sees every reason to be ashamed. But more than that, Adam curses himself. This is why the serpent wanted Eve to speak the words of the curse in the opening moves of this travesty. Accusation must use the words God speaks in order to accuse.

When Jesus heard God’s voice in the same place of jeopardy, he said, “Here am I.” Yet he was, in fact, stark naked.

Afraid
I am afraid. Adam was not “in trouble with God.” All Adam had to do was step out into the light and say, “Here am I. I have sinned.” The outcome would have been totally different. What was Adam afraid of? Adam was afraid of the good speaking of Jesus, speaking him into existence every moment.

Adam seized hold of his sin, and placed that sin in between himself and that good speaking. By placing his own sin between himself and the words of Jesus always sustaining him, Adam could now pretend to be a “self” in control of himself. Adam pretending to be a self was Adam pretending to be a god just like the serpent.

Blocking Jesus
Adam could not block the knowledge of the good speaking of Jesus, the voice of God causing him to exist every moment except by using the law. The law and its curse of death gave Adam the authority he grasped for to place his sin in between himself and Jesus and thus to curse himself with death. The false human self is fabricated by accusation, using the words of God to place a barrier of darkness against Christ.

The construction of the human self is a story of imagination that is spoken into us and by us from our infancy. We know that it is false because we would not exist if the good words of Jesus were not speaking us every moment.

Endless, Endless Hiding
I hide myself. And we do, oh how we do. Almost all human action is designed to cover over, to hide, to pretend, to make-believe, all performed for the face of others. Even those who reject society are hiding just as much.

One of the best studies of human pretending, how we create a false story to present ourselves to others, is found in the animated movie, Rango. I wrote a letter that expands on the issue of human psychosis using the story of Rango as a backdrop. I would suggest you read it: Rango: Finding One’s True Self.

Light
Light is our answer to human psychosis.

If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

To walk in the light is to stand face to face with Jesus, seeing Him alone, knowing that all that I am is coming only out from His good speaking, knowing that whatever it might be that God calls “sin” is washed away every moment by the Blood.

That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus (Philemon 1:6).

I exist by the good speaking of Jesus; I speak Christ.
