13.3 Authority

© 2015 Christ Revealed Bible Institute

A paper written a few years ago called Media Spotlight: A Biblical Analysis of Religious & Secular Media attempted to apply the prophetic word of Scripture to the political events of today’s world. The final statement in that paper was: “Mortal men will never rule over God's kingdom.”

I agree completely. But I wonder at their thinking. Why would they need to claim that God will never turn His elect into Satanists, giving to them “rule over”? There is NO “rule over” in the kingdom of God. But here is what God says about “mortal men.” That the life of Jesus might be revealed in our mortal flesh (2 Corinthians 4:11).

Heart
Let’s line up here the authority verses. So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you” (John 20:21). “Look at all the realities found in the Father sending me, in that exact same way I also send you.”

Another “definition” for the word heart just came to me. Heart is that which draws into itself and then sends forth again by mighty surges of passion and power. To the extent that we are drawn into the Heart of Christ now beating in our own hearts, to that same extent we are sent forth out from that Heart in mighty demonstrations of love.

Put On Jesus
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations …” (Matthew 28:18-19). This verse is typically isolated and made into its own boxed doctrine, something we should never do. Jesus spoke these words at the same time that He said, “As the Father sent me, so I send you.”

… according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself (Philippians 3:21). Put on the Lord Jesus Christ … (Romans 13:14). Put upon yourself the Person who possesses all authority in heaven and on earth, Person upon person.

Witnesses
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me … (Acts 1:8) And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy … (Revelation 11:3).

John’s vision is just the gospel in another form. Acts 1:8 and Revelation 11:3 are the same word. The power to prove Christ in ALL that He is and speaks as the second witness of Christ is given to us. This witnessing is not “telling people about,” but rather the demonstration of the new creation flowing out of our bellies. We will see more of what that means One Day in Gethsemane.

Authority Over
And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations – 'He shall rule them with a rod of iron; they shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels’ – as I also have received from My Father (Revelation 2:26-27).

Immense authority upon this earth is given to us through these words. (This is the same word as Matthew 28:18-19.) The question is ENTIRELY – How do we hear? Do we hear this word as sons of God or do we hear it as sons of the evil one? He who has an ear, let him hear … (Revelation 2:28). Do we hear this word as the violation of force or do we hear it as endless life and love springing up into the story of all?

The Throne
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne (Revelation 3:21).

The throne is the Mercy Seat of God. As Jesus sits enthroned in our hearts, He grants to us to sit with Him inside that authority. In fact Jesus’ very presence in our hearts makes our hearts the Father’s throne, the very same place where Jesus is seated. The authority of God is the authority of the Mercy Seat, the POWER to cause all sin to cease and all created beings, all things found in the old creation, to pass out from death and into life.

Subdue
“… You have crowned (man) with glory and honor, and set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus … (Hebrews 2:7-9).

God has put ALL under the authority of man to subdue all. We don’t “see” that by outward appearance right now. But we see Jesus – and we see Him here in a specific way. According to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself He who keeps my works until the end.

Mighty in God
And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly (Romans 16:20).
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. Do you look at things according to the outward appearance? (2 Corinthians 10:3-7).

Punish All Disobedience
If there is ever a place in the Bible where the outward appearance of the serpent applied to the definition of God rules the translators, it is in the translation of this three-word phrase, “punish all disobedience.”

First, the Greek words: ekdikesai pasan parakoen.
  • ekdikeó: to vindicate, to avenge – to dispense justice, carrying a judgment completely through, with all that is appropriate to it.
  • A similar term is ekdikesis: (a feminine noun derived from ek, "out from and to" and díkē, "justice, judge") – properly, judgment which fully executes the core-values (standards) of the particular judge, i.e. extending from the inner-person of the judge to its out-come (outcome).
Hearing Amiss
  • Pasan is familiar to us, a form of pas, one of Paul’s favorite words, it means ALL.
  • Parakoé: a hearing amiss, by implication disobedience.
  • Parako (from pará, "contrary by close comparison" and akoúō, "hear") – properly, contrary-hearing, i.e. disobedience which springs from a negative (opposing) attitude, i.e. the refusal to listen properly. This "hearing" has the attitude of refusing to take heed and therefore is inattentive ("hearing" that will not comply). Parako reflects the attitude that chooses to disobey because of disinterest.
Take heed how you hear. – Let him who has ears HEAR.

The Judge
The problem is that most do not consider the Great Story of God, do not have God’s determination to prove His word true against all opposition in view, do not comprehend the meaning and extent of Salvation, and do not know God as He IS. Thus the translators, in looking at these words HEAR them AMISS; they hear the wrong thing by these words and thus place onto the pages of the Bible a further expansion of the image of the glorious serpent.

Notice that judgment comes out of the nature of the judge. Jesus is the Judge, the words that He speaks. All judgment comes out of the One who laid down His life for ALL!!! Those who hear the voice of the Son of God shall live (John 5).

They Hear Amiss
Who (Jesus) being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high (Hebrews 1:3).

Everything exists only by the good speaking of Jesus, the revelation of the judgment of God, speaking them into being every moment. Yet almost all humans HEAR accusation, a word that is NOT. They hear amiss! And in hearing amiss, they create all the agony and horror of the false self, and the endless cursing, and the death that stalks this planet.

Made Subject
What is the judgement, the proving, the vindication of Jesus, the Word God is always speaking? Remember Isaiah 55 – My Word shall NOT return to Me void, but it shall accomplish the purpose for which I sent it.

For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10). – Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all (1 Corinthians 15:28). – According to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself

Every Tongue Speaks Christ
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9-11).

As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. – All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore …

I have written out a lot of verses in this lesson, but I do believe I have established the case for the authority of God placed now upon us, placed into our hearts and our mouths.

The Authority of Christ
As you and I are sent forth every moment from the Heart of Jesus, the Mercy Seat of God beating in our breasts, we possess ALL the authority of God to prove that Jesus speaks the truth. We possess the authority to apply the cross of Christ to all things, to bring every individual person into the Mercy Seat of our hearts to meet with God there above the Blood. We possess the authority to forgive all sins and to raise the dead into the resurrection life of Jesus always arising from within us. We possess the authority to subdue all things by love, by faith working through love, the power by which Jesus brings all things under His feet.

We vindicate Jesus by judging ALL THINGS to Life!
