9. Inside the Holy Place - for Notes

The difference between the word as the Laver and Word as the Table is the Door.

The command of the gospel is to put the Lord Jesus Christ upon ourselves. The Laver is word “about” Jesus. You search the Scriptures… and these testify of Me (John 5). The Bread on the Table is Jesus Himself as Word. Come to me that you might have life – I am the Bread of Life (John 5 & 6).

Yet we have not yet arrived at the Manna in the Holiest, which is knowing the Word as our own story of self.

The Anointing. The difference between the light of human reasoning about Bible things and the light of the Spirit is the Door.

In the outer court we see ourselves and others in the mirror of judgment by how we ourselves judge and define reality, that is, according to the flesh, that is, by outward things. The light of the lampstand is the knowing of the Spirit, a knowing that enables us to see as God sees.

The anointing that you have received from Him abides inside of you, and … teaches you concerning all, and is true. – The Spirit of truth, He will guide you inside of all truth… He will take out from that which is Mine and will make it known to you (1 John 3 & John 16).

Heavenly Things. All humans live inside of heaven right now. Heaven/earth is one place; there is no other place to live. Inside the Holy Place, we begin to perceive heavenly things.

If you are a gym teacher, however, and you tell thirty junior-high boys to go into the gym and that you will be along in a few minutes, do you expect them to be waiting quietly just inside the door? – Not even. It is the same in the Holy Place. God knows this and He has provided for reckless children playing with heavenly things.

But the purpose of the Holy Place is for us to know Jesus as the Truth. What is the truth?

The Feast of Leaven. Pentecost is the feast of leaven.

Passover is without leaven because Passover is all about the spotless Lamb of God and our instantaneous transfer out of the old creation and into all things new. Tabernacles is without leaven because no one will choose to know God in the Holiest who has not first embraced the truth about themselves.

Yes, God intends for you to learn heavenly realities, to know the Bible as the Bread of Life and to know the anointing and power of the Spirit. But the most important thing for you to learn is the truth.

Dishonesty. Leaven is dishonesty.

I stated that those who refuse to enter the Holy Place, but who remain in the outer court to turn the Bible into human intellect, these are profoundly dishonest. That is true, but it is just as true that they are incapable of knowing how dishonest they are.

Only inside the Holy Place are you now capable of discovering the truth about yourself. This is the work of the Altar of Incense, something not typically noticed by kids rushing in to play. Yet that second Altar is the only way into knowing God as He is.

Children First, Adults Later. I am searching for how we are to know the Holy Place as the way into the Holiest. You see, as we live inside the Holiest, inside of John 14:20 only, then we know the Table, Lampstand, and Altar from a whole different perspective. But we must save that way of knowing for later and attempt to perceive these things as a learning place for children.

Consider thirty professional gymnasts told by their master to go into the gym ahead of him. When he arrives, he will find them using everything in the gym as it is intended – OR they might be waiting quietly for him to come.

Not so with children.

The “Things of God.” Here is the difference.
I will send My Angel before you… Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; for I will not go up in your midst, lest I consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked people. – Then [Moses] said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here (Exodus 33:2-3 & 15).

Here is the sifting. Childish children, in the realms of the heavens, leave the Door behind as they run helter-skelter through all the “things of God” they are discovering. But a few, just a few, remember the Door; these are the ones who eventually notice that the Veil is already wide open.

Learning the Truth. We learn three things in our junior high years inside the Holy Place.  We begin to know the Word as the Bread of Life, and we begin to know the Spirit as light and understanding. These are two important parts of “the Truth.”

Yet it is the third part of “the Truth” that must be added to these two that takes us into the knowledge of Father with us. We must know the truth about ourselves.

Only absolute honesty will live inside of God and accept a God who lives in and shows Himself through us. What is the truth about yourself?

Only Those Who Fail. I can of Myself do nothing (John 5:30). Only those who FAIL, utterly and forever, will ever leave the delusion of in-part to live only inside of God.

Stop saying how much you “love God.” You don’t and you never will. Stop talking about “coming to the end of yourself.” You never have and you never will. Stop protesting to all about how much you “love everybody.” It’s FAKE. Nothing about your Christian life is real. You are a great pretender, nothing more.

There is no greater expression of self than self putting self to death. It’s FAKE! It cannot happen.

You Are Not! God did NOT create you to live the Christian life. God created you to be filled with God. BUT – in filling you with Himself, God gives you NO power, none whatsoever. God reserves power entirely and only to His Spirit when His Spirit is free of you.

O Lord, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps (Jeremiah 10:23). Accept that you are not and never have.

For we have this treasure inside of earthen vessels, so that the surpassing beyond-ness of the power may be of God and not of us (2 Corinthians 4:17).

Oh Me, Oh My! Everything in the Holy Place, that is, inside this emergency rescue, is designed for failure.

Only those who flunk junior high are eligible to go on into the full knowledge of God filling them full with Himself.

This is the purpose of Romans 7. – So I find the practice, that, in spite of my desiring to do good, evil is right there alongside of me. – Oh me, oh my, I am a wretched man! (21 & 24). It was only when he had learned to say those last words that Paul could live inside of the Holiest and out from there write Romans 8.

Not a Pleasant Memory. The Holy Place is filled with trying and lying and crying, and with powerful people who are very skilled at all three.

And so we have been. I lived inside of the Holy Place from February of 1976 to February of 2008, thirty-two years of knowing “the things of God” without really knowing God. It is not a pleasant memory.

Nonetheless, I have devoted my life from then on to drawing out from my years in the Holy Place those things that were truly God in the Bible as the true Bread of Life, in the Spirit as the true anointing of God, and in the dealings of God as the true hand of God in the heart of a man, to separate for you the true out from all the nonsense.

God’s Intended Purpose. I will devote one lesson to each of the three pieces of furniture in the Holy Place, but only as that thing is on the way into the knowledge of a Salvation already true.

We cannot know these things as they really are until we have turned around inside the Holiest. And we will never turn around inside the Holiest until we have failed absolutely and forever at living the Christian life.

Nonetheless, as I have said, things have meaning only when we find them in their place doing their intended purpose. Then I see that I must add one lesson to show the three pieces of furniture as they are misused by many.

A Measuring Rod. We must understand the sifting of the Holy Place.

And a measuring rod was given to me, like a scepter or staff of authority, saying “Rise and measure the sanctuary [the place where God dwells], and [measure] the altar, and those worshipping inside of it. But do not measure the court outside … (Revelation 11:1-2).

God designed the Holy Place to be discouraging for all on the way in. His intention is that we do not tarry in the Holy Place but go on to know the Lord in due time. But many draw back from discouragement into knowing God the same as those who remained in the outer court.

Out from Faith. Moreover, “My righteous ones live out from faith”; but if anyone might draw back, My soul delights not in him.” We, however, are not of those drawing back into loss, but we are of faith into taking ownership and full possession of our soul [our identity – as everything in the Holiest] (Hebrews 38-39).

Accept yourself as being utterly incapable of ever pleasing God and accept God in you as He is ALREADY.

We take possession of our souls, our self-story, only as we live out from faith, from knowing that God already IS. “Help me, God!” – “I am, you silly man, I already am.”

Paul’s Answer. It is God’s intention that we gain an in-part knowing of the Bread of Life, an in-part experience of the anointing of the Spirit, and an in-part measure of the dealings of God in our passage through the Holy Place. It is NOT God’s intention for anyone to set up camp inside any of those three in-parts and call it “the Christian life.”

Look at Paul’s answer to Romans 7 in verses 24-25. Oh me, oh my, I am a wretched man! Who will draw me [to Himself] out of this body of death? Grace and thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

I always hated Paul’s answer because it made no sense to me.

Leaving All Pretending. Many other verses, including Romans 8:30, allow us to put in the words that do give sense to Paul’s answer.Grace and thanks be to God WHO HAS ALREADY DONE SO through Jesus Christ our Lord!

The one who says, “Not Christ, but I,” is so blatant that they are dangerously close to becoming honest. Most pretenders say, “, but God expects” or “, but you must.”

These things, however, are speaking of the Veil, our flesh already His flesh. Before we are ready to live only inside of God and not in the realm of pretending that Salvation is of us, we must learn three things.

Jesus Utterly Carries You. We must learn that the Word is alive and that it is the living Seed of God that brings forth God-life, that is, knowing God with us, inside of us. We must learn that the Spirit is the power of God in the heavens and that spiritual realities are an essential part of the normal human life.

And we must abandon forever the one thing inside of the human that God will NEVER allow into Himself. – Contempt –

Yet we MUST accept an in-part knowing of these three things, for only inside of God do we know God. – And we are already there. – Jesus utterly carries us.
