3. God Through

© Daniel Yordy – 2020

The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth; the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken” (Isaiah 40:3-5).

Let these verses grow ever larger in your sight and understanding. Feel free to read the entire chapter. Hold the things stated just before and just after in your understanding of these verses. You will see full redemption just before and God revealed just after with part of the how at the end, that is, they that “wait” upon the Lord, which means being fully entwined together with God.

For the purpose of this letter, though, I want to focus on these three verses as we understand them by the gospel. More than that, we will be tying everything here into the core of Paul’s gospel, that is, Romans 8:18-30, which we will also be tying into Revelation 12.

Wow, okay. Place Isaiah 40:3-5 with Romans 8:19-22 with Revelation 12:1-2 & 5. All three are referring to the same thing. But Isaiah gives us a perspective of what is happening that we must have and that we must combine with the perspectives given by Paul and John.

Let’s start with the absolute. What is the cause and source and issue of all sin and death, all that is not LIFE? The answer is simple and clear – God not known. And what is the cause and source and issue of all life and purity, all that is not fallen away? The answer is simple and clear – God seen and known.

The ANSWER to every problem inside the human sphere is – The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together – God seen and known.

First we must ask, who is speaking to whom?

The “voice” speaking is the ministry of “Elijah.” Now, I have “Elijah” in quotation marks because we are not speaking of an office or an individual person, but rather a significant aspect of the ministry of Christ through His Church.

Then, inside the words of the first speaker you have this statement – “for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” This is a quite different aspect of the ministry of Christ, this is Christ Personal in and as you – the word is in your mouth.

These two voices, then, are pictured for us by John the Baptist and Jesus. John the Baptist pointed to the way; Jesus is the way. Notice that the first kind of speaking must decrease as the second kind of speaking increases, as John the Baptist said.

The point, then, is not the first voice, for it is a voice that disappears when its purpose is finished. In complete contrast, the word of the Lord [in our mouth and heart] endures forever.

The point is to whom the first voice is speaking, those whose task it is to prepare this path for God. In a very limited context, that is, to those few who read these letters, the ministry of Christ through me is as that first voice speaking, that is, “Elijah.” Nonetheless, I place myself entirely with you as those to whom that voice is speaking.

Thus that word of “Elijah” through me calling us into this critical task decreases to the extent that you and I together step forth with the word of Christ in our mouth.

And understand, we’re not talking about “big things” here, but little things, the simplest truth of the gospel – Christ lives in your heart through faith, which is, of course, the biggest thing in the universe standing far, far above all the “big things” as perceived by humans.

Now, my purpose here is not to discuss the things that are being done in response to this voice speaking out from the wilderness. That will come in an upcoming letter, but from the perspective of John’s vision.

What we are after here is the base assumption underneath of Isaiah’s words, that is, the words being spoken by the first voice to those whose task is to prepare. That base assumption is almost unbelievable; it is certainly not something considered inside of Nicene Christianity.

Here is the base assumption. – God is OUT and He wants IN.

Let that clear thought percolate in your heart and mind. Consider your own world, all the entities and circumstances and interactions with others that surround you and are involved in your daily life. – God is OUT and He wants IN.

Now, I’m saying that to you as if you have never embraced the word of Christ our life. Since you have embraced Jesus as your only life, you know for yourself that God is no longer out, but is entirely and utterly IN. Nonetheless, it is also the huge question of your heart that no one else seems to notice. To all others in your world, God remains OUT, wanting to come IN.

In the last letter, I defined “turn around” as strongly as I ever have. And, of course, to turn around inside of God is to be God’s Mercy Seat towards all, you, seated above the Blood facing out towards the Church, God as the pillar of fire touching down upon that Blood. You and God together, then, synergeoing as the tip-point of that fire that is God entering into His creation.

Nonetheless, being turned around by God is an on-going process. We know living turned around in some ways, but not in all. And so, since I wrote the last letter, God has, once again, turned me around.

I had perceived our ministry together as calling people into the knowledge of God. Now I realize that is seeing completely backwards. Our ministry is not to call people into the knowledge of God, but to call God into the knowledge of people.

God, the One giving life to the dead, calling the is-not into the is (Romans 4 – literal rendition). That is, God not known becoming God known.

I’m no good addressing people, trying to persuade them of God in them. But I know my Father, always arising in my heart, and calling Him into the knowledge of people is something I just might be gifted to do, that is, it is something that catches the singing of my heart.

And so we must grapple with the profound implications of Isaiah’s words, that God is OUT and He wants IN.

Basically, this is the one topic of this entire series, and yes, urgent thoughts, things I have been pondering, are pouring into chapter headings faster than I can keep up.

God is OUT and He wants IN.

Now, we are not, of course, referring to God in Himself. God is, and this IS-God fills all things, every particle of space, every moment of time, every aspect of His creation, both spirit and matter, with ALL that He is.

The problem is that no one knows.

And so the issue is not God, but the knowledge of God, a phrase you will find in the New Testament, but not in Nicene thinking.

Before continuing, we must fix our minds on God seen and known.

Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them… And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them (Mark 10:13 & 16). This is one of several very specific pictures of God seen and known AS HE IS. This is God IN.

Here is another major picture of God IN. And be kind with one another, tender-hearted, forgiving and giving favor to each other in the same way that God inside of Christ gives favor freely to you (Ephesians 4:32).

Nonetheless, at the present time, God is, for the most part, OUT.

However, Isaiah’s words are not about God IN or God OUT, but God THROUGH. And that is the topic of this letter. Nonetheless, we cannot know God THROUGH unless we keep the staggering implications of God OUT (death) and God IN (life) at the forefront of our understanding.

Here is another picture, then, of God THROUGH.

For the eager anticipation of the creation awaits intently for the unveiling, that is, the removal of that which hides the sons of God. For the creation was made subject to purposelessness, not willingly, but through being subjected on the basis of the hope that creation itself will also be made free from the slavery of decay into the freedom of the glory of the children birthed out from God. Indeed, we are aware that the entire creation groans together and travails together until now (Romans 8:19-22).

Here is another phrase meaning “purposelessness” and “the slavery of decay” – God OUT. And here is another phrase meaning “the freedom of the glory” – God IN.

Then we bring in another picture of God THROUGH.

And a great sign was perceived in heaven, a woman enclothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a garland [of victory] of twelve stars. And having [a child] in her womb, she screams, being in travail and being tortured to bring forth [to bring to birth]. …And she brought forth a male, a son, who is about to shepherd all the ethnic peoples with a rod of iron, and her child was seized into God and into His throne (Revelation 12:1-2 & 5).

Here is another phrase meaning “seized into God and into His throne” – God IN.
So the first picture, here, of God THROUGH is the picture of the Apocalypse, the unveiling of Jesus Christ and the second picture of God THROUGH is the birthing of the fullness of Christ through the Church into the human experience.

BUT – Isaiah gives us a most incredible piece of information on this same wondrous GOD THROUGH.

(And never forget that we are always speaking of Romans 8:29, symmorphosed with the image of His Son.)

Isaiah’s words indicate that there is a group of people, now at the turning of the ages, who are given the task of bringing God THROUGH.

“Hey, you, prepare a WAY for God, because God is coming THROUGH” (Isaiah 40:3 – paraphrased).

This entire series, then, is a massive exploration of what on earth that means.

One of the big questions is, of course, what keeps God OUT?

You see, God’s way THROUGH is always the Church, which is His Body, the fullness of Jesus who fills all inside of all (Ephesians 1:23).

Nonetheless, since the first century, Christianity in this world has joined with the serpent in a massive effort and determination to keep God OUT.

Bishops and priests outside the gate are not really engaged in keeping their people from leaving ritual and entering into knowing Christ as their Savior. What they are really doing is working overtime to keep God OUT of their spirits. And born-again pastors and theologians in front of the Door are not really keeping their people from leaving an intellectual Bible to enter into knowing God by the Spirit. What they are really doing is working overtime to keep God OUT of their souls. And Spirit-filled apostles and prophets standing in front of the wide-open Veil are not really keeping their people from leaving a false struggle against sin to enter into living inside of Christ their ONLY life. What they are really doing is working overtime to keep God OUT of creation, and away from their flesh.

And so we have this great dilemma and contradiction – a creation groaning with eager anticipation to know God IN and working at every point with the serpent to keep God OUT.

That gives us, then, this wonderful parallel, that our way into the Holiest IS God’s way INTO His creation. We have seen it this way in the Tabernacle Teaching.

Our knocking on the Door to go into God is God knocking on the Door to go into His creation.

Our way into God is the most precious thing to our Father, for it is HIS WAY THROUGH into His creation.

And at this point, we could sing in glorious laughter, dancing around arm in arm in a great circle. Our glorious Salvation is so wondrously good.

Let’s bring in our text again so that we can have another look at it.

And again, in this letter we are not looking at the mechanics of this task, that will come later, but at the underlying implications of this picture. You can’t know a thing until you first know what it is and where it fits.

You see, it is from these verses, in conjunction with many others, that I make this incredible statement, that God wants to enter into His creation as part of His creation that He might enjoy and be enjoyed by His creation.

That’s what humans are for. That’s what symmorphy means. That’s the picture of God found in Jesus placing His hands on little children and blessing them.

And that is the greatest CRIME that can be committed in the eyes of all humans and angels wandering blind in the darkness – God manifest in the FLESH, God Incarnate.
.

God Incarnate is BLASPHEMY, a blaspheming against the arrogant lust of humans to be “superior.”

And it is the deepest longing inside the heart of every human and angel wandering blind in the darkness, Father with me.

This is a BIG deal. In fact, it’s the only deal, the only thing actually happening. Everything else filling the attention of Christians and non-Christians alike is smoke and mirrors, a vapor that vanishes in a moment, an utterly meaningless distraction.

Here we can place the absurdity of “going to” heaven in all that it means. Christians are busy trying to get out, keeping themselves completely oblivious to God busy trying to get IN. In fact, the effort of Christians to get out is the most effective trick of the serpent towards keeping God OUT.

God can’t get IN if Christians won’t turn around.

Then we see that, in “Prepare the way of the Lord,” the word translated “Prepare” actually means, “Turn the way placed in front of God into the right direction.”

It means, turn around and be the Mercy Seat of God, God Himself in Person, now coming THROUGH you in and as all that you are.

To call God THROUGH is not to force God, for God DESIRES with a passion greater than all the explosive stars in the universe to come THROUGH.

But the one thing God lacks is the authority to come THROUGH. God can’t get IN because He does not have the authority to come IN.

God has put that authority in our mouths – the Word is in your mouth (Romans 10).

The last phrase of this passage, then, is that Word and that authority – for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.

You and I are the mouth of the Lord. As we speak Christ our only life, so we are granting God permission to come THROUGH, otherwise known as FAITH.

And this is the whole point of The Jesus Secret. In other words, we are learning what it is we have been doing, and we are completely gob-smacked.

In the first two letters of this series, I outline a number of points towards which I will devote one or more letters in exploration. Although I have hardly begun on those points, let’s bring in some more. In doing so, we go back and forth between what keeps God OUT and what brings God IN.

First, I am working on Romans 8:18-30 in The Jesus Secret II, and I am seeing the dim outline of things I have never considered. Since this passage is the rule over everything else in this topic, we must explore Paul’s gospel again.

Next, we have this incomprehensible question – How is it that Christians are so effective at keeping God OUT? What do they do to accomplish such a seemingly impossible task? Inside of that question, we must consider the “total depravity” of Calvinism, that is, the T of the Calvinist “TULIP.” This belief, that there exists a “fallen human nature,” is the most effective element in keeping God OUT. It is the serpent’s definition of “the human,” which he gave in the garden.

The LIE – “Christ is not your life.” The CURSE – “You have a life not-Christ.”

Nonetheless, none of this is about persuading people of the truth, that is, “calling people into the knowledge of God.” All of it is about you and me possessing the authority to do an end-run around all opposing humans and to CALL God IN.

It’s not about the quarterback throwing the ball to the open line-man. It’s about the open line-man, catching the ball from the quarterback for the touchdown. It’s about God IN.

So, what does it mean to be a Caller and to call God IN? Inside this question we will look at the work of building the highway. But we will also look at the seven “overcomings,” except I will call them “The Seven Virtues.” Just thinking about Virtue #1 brings tears of joy to my eyes – the proof of Christ through me, that Jesus is my very and only life, that I am never other than He, that is, eating of the tree of LIFE, that is, never again bowing under the demonic image of the superior, arrogant, and far-away “Christ.”

In fact, as I consider the meaning of writing my life story, I realize that my whole life has been the Lord Jesus proving to me that He IS these seven virtues in me, in all the fabric of my life and experience.

But let’s not run down those paths quite yet.

Finally (as far as this list of points to explore is concerned), we must also look at the precious and personal meaning of God THROUGH, that is, God THROUGH me, otherwise known as “sharing heart with God.”

We can do this, you know. Jesus has already proven all seven virtues to us, that He IS all these things in our lives. We are well able to CALL God THROUGH, and as we do, look out, for the only answer to all the issues, horrors, and nonsense of this world is – and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh will see it together, otherwise known as loving one another with pure hearts fervently, or, in shorter words, God manifest in the flesh.

I thought, when I had finished writing The River of Life, that I had accomplished God’s intentions through this season of writing, and that my present work would be to wrap things up with The Jesus Secret II and my life story. Now, I am out of breath with the continual discovery that I have hardly begun to write.

Neither do I quite understand how on earth it is that I am writing five different books/series all at the same time and am quite unable to set any one of those five aside to focus on the rest.

And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written (John 21:25).
