5. The Portal

A “portal” is a point of entrance from one place to another. The word is used for a grander or more imposing entrance than a simple door. In science fiction, however, a “portal” is the point of entrance from one dimension of reality into another dimension of reality.

In occultic science fiction, as in Alice in Wonderland, the portal is “falling down the rabbit hole,” that is, signified by a spiraling fall. I bring that in as an example of the meaning of two completely different realms of reality and the passage between them. The spiraling fall, however, signifies the fall of humans into a universe of death, that is, a dream world, a fantasy, where everything is imagined in terms of good and evil.

That last statement does not mean that death is not real and deadly.

Now, in speaking of two dimensions of reality, we are NOT speaking of “earth” as one dimension and “heaven” as another dimension. There is no such thing as “heaven invading earth.”

Heaven-earth is one dimension. Look at yourself. How do you know that heaven is as much a part of the reality in which you presently live as earth is? That’s easy – you’re alive.

When you’re dead, you don’t go from earth “to” heaven. All that happens is that you lose earth, you lose half of yourself, little different than the amputation of a limb. And it means you are no longer able to be God revealed, for God reveals Himself through human flesh. And you should be able to find the several verses that say exactly that.

I hope to add a letter soon in which we explore the present dynamic relationship between heaven and earth, the place where all angels and humans dwell.

The place on our side of the portal, then, is the entire reality of heaven-earth, the dwelling place of all angels and humans.

What is on the other side of this portal, then? – God Himself in Person.

Everything in the Holy Place, all our experience in the things of the Spirit, is entirely on our side of the wall. None of it is God Himself; all of it is the things of God happening inside of creation, that is, heaven-earth.

Let’s expand a bit on the science fiction use of the word “portal.” With it we can place the term, “wormhole.” A “wormhole,” then, is the whole passage that appears, usually momentarily, from one dimension of reality to another. Two examples in literature are the wardrobe in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, and the device constructed by scientists in Michael Crichton’s Timeline, through which humans today could go back to a specific point in time in medieval France.

So, on one side of the wall is the world in which we live, the entire cosmos of heaven-earth, surrounded by humans, both dead and alive, and angels, both fallen and unfallen, and all the interaction of the substance of the spiritual heavens with the matter of the material earth.

On the other side of the wall is God Himself in Person, completely separate from all created things. (And, of course, we are speaking of the knowledge of God, which is the biggest deal in the creation, that is, age-unfolding LIFE.)

So, picture these two totally different realms, created and uncreated (heaven and angels are created). In this case we are considering an entirely transcendent Person. – God’s side of the wall is not a “realm,” but a very Personal Person. And we are considering the wall in-between the two, called the ignorance of God or “vanity.”

Through this wall there is a wormhole or passageway. In the center of this passageway is the actual gate or portal. Thus we can see that the actual wormhole has two parts, the part on God’s side of the portal in the wall, and the part on our side of the portal in the wall.

On God’s side of the wall is the spinning duality, the “Birkeland current,”  of Spirit and Word always entwined together.

On our side of the wall is the picture God gives us of the Ark of the Covenant with the Mercy Seat upon it, journeying forth, this passage of God through us.

What, then, is the portal, the gate, the opening in the wall THROUGH WHICH God Himself in Person steps into our world?

Are you ready?

– Your human heart. –

This is EXACTLY the picture God gives us in the Old Testament and the New.

Now, this very wormhole is lining up for you and me right now – God is coming through.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone should hear My voice and open the door, I will go in towards him and will dine with him and he with Me (Revelation 3:20).

– God IN –

Okay. All right. Let’s catch our breath for a moment.

Then, let’s bring back in the incredible layout of our glorious salvation from the last chapter.

The portal and the pinch are the same thing. The wormhole and the hourglass structure are the same thing.

Thus I am saying that my heart and Romans 8:29 are the same thing.

And guess what. Around the age of thirty, I set myself to know the Bible and what God actually says for myself. I had had it with everyone claiming “what the Bible says,” and then finding out that it actually says something quite different.

So let me ask you a simple question. What verse did I find, there, inside my incredible vulnerability, as I pressed my Bible against my heart and wept before God that, if it be possible, He would write His word upon my heart?

What verse was the very first to enter my knowing to become the determination of my heart and the set of my face?

Romans 8:29 – God’s covenant with me – symmorphosed with the image of His Son.

Okay, that took away even more breath. Let’s relax a bit and continue when we are able to do so in peace.

Now, it will not be until the next chapter that we finally turn from these broad layouts of what this series is addressing and begin to consider in depth a single point. That first point in the next chapter will be the meaning of God calling or summoning us into Himself and into union with Christ.

Through the remainder of this chapter, then, I want to continue to set before us this entire picture of you and me rushing into God and God our Father rushing into us and through us into His creation.

Yet even here we want to place in ever greater wonder our understanding of this portal, this door, this moment, circumstance, and situation where God Himself in Person is able to step through into His creation that He might be seen and known by all.

Let’s return to the great picture God has given us in our day of the electrical phenomena of flow and pinch, this massive cosmic or atomic structure that appears as an hour glass when viewed from the side.

Understand that when viewed from the end, this same structure that is creating a pinch that is whole clusters of galaxies or a galaxy or a star in a galaxy, this same structure at its largest size looks exactly like the single-celled fetus the very moment the sperm cell penetrates into it and exactly like the colored part, the iris, of the human eye.

When we see this same phenomenon in our everyday modern life, however, it does not appear to us in that shape. Instead, humans have learned how to confine that flow of electricity in and electricity out into copper wires. For that reason, when I look at the wire coming into the lightbulb just above me, the wires in and out look small compared to the larger size of the shining bulb.

In outer space, of course, the flow of electricity is not confined. In fact there is more space in-between each electron moving in the void than can be achieved in the best vacuum on earth. That means that, from closeup it is impossible to see the immense size of the flow of electrons towards and away from our sun.

Because modern telescopes set out beyond the atmosphere can see things far away much more clearly, we have become familiar with the side view of this phenomenon.

Here it is again.
 

If we were far enough away from our own sun and with the right telescope, we would see this exact appearance.

The point of discharge is the sun, a shining electric light. The planets in their orbit around the sun are inside the space where the vast size of the flow is narrowing down.

From the human perspective on this planet the flow of electricity into and out from the pinch point we call the sun is invisible. To the human mind, it does not exist. For that reason, humans try to come up with absurd explanations as to how the sun produces its own light, explanations that have no scientific validity, that do not fit measurable phenomena in any way. You are probably aware of the great search to develop nuclear “fusion” power and all the billions that have been spent on that search. They will never create “fusion” power because there is no such thing. Electrical engineers already know how to make full use of the same power that lights the sun.

Flow in – invisible. Flow out – invisible. But the pinch, the point of discharge, our star, turns all that immense but invisible power into light and heat, now seen and felt by us.

Since this is the reality of our entire physical universe, brought out from His own being every moment by God our Father, we should not be at all surprised that the critical pattern for the gospel, the Tabernacle of Moses, should function in exactly the same way.

The flow of an invisible God in, the pinch point, and then the flow of God out into His creation.

John saw the pinch point of God seen and known in his vision. Here is how he described it. – And I saw a greater wonder in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun (Revelation 12:1).

Then, here is how Paul described the same phenomenon. – Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

But Moses described the exact same thing in this way. –  You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony that I will give you. And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are on the ark of the Testimony (Exodus 25:21-22).

The Portal. – The Entrance of God.

Then we understand, looking at the picture above, that the flow into the pinch point, that exact point of meeting between God and us, the Portal, is not actually the Father Himself, of Himself.

God Himself, of Himself, cannot relate with or be known by created things. God, to become seen and known, must first fit Himself into other Persons, Spirit and Word always together as a great binary current. You see, the flow INTO your heart is still invisible, Spirit and Word.

Mediator.

There is one God, the Father, and one Mediator between God and man, the Man, Christ Jesus (2 Timothy). “Christ Jesus” is always Spirit and Word entwined together, always Personal, and always flowing into us.

Here is Jesus’ description of His flow as Spirit Word into you. – The words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life (John 6:63). And here is Jesus’ description of His flow as Spirit Word out from you. – He that believes into me, out of His belly will flow rivers of living water.

Then, Jesus places an utterly unknowable God into this same picture. If you had known Me, you would have known the Father also. – The one having seen Me, has seen the Father. – Believe Me that I am inside of the Father and the Father inside of Me (John 14).

Now, the teaching I am doing on the Tabernacle is making all these things so simple and clear. I cannot draw from this series when I write those lessons, of course, for I must keep that simple to what God’s people in general know. And, of course, God is coming through that simple layout to take our breath away. Then, I am fully free to bring what we learn there into these letters.

In the Tabernacle teaching right now, I am writing the lessons on the Altar of Incense and the Veil, that vehicle that breaks us away from the final pull of gravity so that we might enter into the knowledge of our full union with Christ.

Once inside the Holiest, then, we spend a season learning what our precious union with Christ means for us personally. We especially come to terms with the absolute profundity of the Atonement – Blood upon Mercy.

Look back up at the hour-glass shape of the flow of electricity and the pinch point that is our sun.

There is a term I have been using to describe that moment in our lives when the flow of God into us pinches down to become the flow of God out from us, together with us.

That term is – TURN AROUND.

Let me define “turn around” again. The moment you “turn around” inside of your full union with Christ to now become the entrance of God into His creation, is that moment when you whisper to Father, “Father, I am willing to share Hheart with You. I am willing to be the expression of Your Heart towards others.” It is the moment when you cease calling your heart by anything other than “Father with me,” or calling Father’s Heart as anything other than, “I with Father.”

When John saw this happening in your life and heart, here is what he saw. – And her child was seized into God and into His throne (Revelation 12:5).

But when Jesus spoke of this same personal moment, when you chose to call yourself entirely and only by Father’s heart revealed and all your human frame as Father with you in travail for the sake of others, He said it this way. – This is my full completion, that you love one another in exactly the same way that I love you. And John said it this way. – And we also are committed to setting forth our souls for one another.

Paul called this same thing “The Ekenosis,” Jesus calling an invisible God into being seen and known through Him. – He humbled Himself.  

But I have a different expression of this same moment in your life and experience. I have called it “Practicing the Mercy Seat.”

The Portal. – The Entrance of a Mighty other-worldly Being into our world that He might touch and be touched by all.

People have no idea how heretical, how mind-blowingly “impossible,” how “blasphemous” the one command of the gospel, the one thing we must do to be God’s salvation, really is.

– Put on the Lord Jesus Christ. –

A woman clothed with the sun. – The Entrance of God.

The flow of God-in is invisible – the words that I speak to you are Spirit and they are life. The flow of God out from you into His creation is invisible – rivers of living water flowing out of your belly.

But  the pinch point, the mighty star that is our sun, God as He really is, God becoming light and warmth for every one is – Love one another with a pure heart fervently.

I do think that things are becoming quite simple and clear to us.

I want to look at one more aspect of this entire picture, however, and that is this statement, that our going into God IS God’s coming through us into His creation.

Look at the words that are the clearest description of what Salvation is. – KNOW that I am inside of the Father and you inside of Me and I inside of you.

You and me entering into the Person of Jesus and Jesus in Person entering into us are two sides of the same thing. The Holiest is where we begin to learn what this really means.

Our entrance through the Gate IS God entering our spirits so that we begin to know that we are one Sspirit with Him. Our entrance through the Door is God entering our souls so that we begin to know our sweet fellowship with Him. Our entrance through the Veil is God entering our flesh as we begin to know that we are one Fflesh with Him.

Yet all of this is our emergency rescue, our redemption, God making us just and innocent through our faith. Inside the Holiest, then, we spend a season getting to know us with God and God with us.

This season is of utmost importance. You see, we look out and see the groaning of creation, we see the Church, our brethren, camped out in all the wrong places, and we long to go out and show them Jesus as He is.

But, you see, you cannot be any good for anyone until you have become all that God means inside the Holy of Holies, that all that is God with you has become the entirety of your knowing. This most certainly includes practicing the Mercy Seat inside your small environment and some interaction with others inside the Holiest with you. This is school, and we are learning.

Here is what you must KNOW, profoundly, intimately, absolutely, experientially, philosophically, practically, and for real, all through your Being.

“My heart is the Portal of God.”

When you KNOW this, you ARE just like Jesus.

This is God’s Covenant with you.

And look at this, in all this vast panorama of overwhelming truth, that so many would mock and call “blasphemy,” we have never left the one line of simplicity – Christ lives in my heart through faith.

“My heart is the Portal of God. – My heart is God’s Entrance forever.”

You see, we will stand in the face of all opposition, as hurricanes of accusation and abuse are thrown at us from every direction, from fallen angels, from wicked humans, and from rebellious Christians together. And we will KNOW, in perfect peace, that our heart IS the Entrance of God.

“My heart is the Entrance of God.”
