24. Cleansing Water

Paul stated very clearly the meaning of the water in the bronze laver as it applies to our life now in the gospel. That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.

Notice that it is Jesus that cleanses us with His Word, we do not "cleanse" ourselves. Nonetheless, in the Covenant, John states that we who hope that we are just like Jesus purify ourselves just as He is pure.

Again, just as our understanding of the sacrifice of Jesus has taken on a far deeper meaning inside of Covenant, so does our understanding of the cleansing water of the word.

Lesson 24.1 The Bronze Laver places the truth of the Bronze Laver from Moses' Tabernacle into our experience as Christians entering into Christ. Yet this cleansing water cannot be "the Bible" per se, for words must be spirit before they can give life.

Lesson 24.2 Pure Water sets for the great need that all of our speaking be the purity of Christ alone without mixture. Pure water includes the good-speaking of Jesus, the honor and closeness of Father, and our own real selves, all together.

Lesson 24.3 Rivers of Spirit then shows how this same water, flowing now through us, is the very quality that washes away all the darkness of the old creation, bringing life and joy to all.
