5. Pro-Thesis

Pro-Thesis (prothesin) is the first of seven big Greek words which we are placing as key components in our study of Covenant.

Purpose. What is God's purpose? All answers in God revealed to us must always begin with the full answer to this question. We cannot know what something is unless we first know what it is for and where it fits in the larger scheme.

We learned in Symmorphy II: Essence and from Romans 8:28, that God's purpose is tied up with a form of the word energeia, and that is synergeia, "working together with."

God's purpose is not just to be seen and known by His creation, but, much more than that, to be seen and known by His creation THROUGH working together with us in all things.

Lesson 5.1 Why a Body? sets out the function and purpose of a body given to every created being. Then, in understanding why we have a body, we look at God's dilemma, that He has no Body, and thus cannot be known. Then, we catch a glimpse of something wonderful, that God wants to enter His creation as part of His creation, yet entirely Himself.

Lesson 5.2 God at Work defines work, placing it into the litany of human interest and activity. Then the author includes his own work experience as a model to show God at work in and through us.

Lesson 5.3 Working together with God is a further development of Romans 8:28, this time as an essential part of our Covenant with God. The lesson sets forth this wonderful calling upon us, to work together with God in all things, turning all things towards goodness.
