18. Believers Together as Light

The second piece of furniture placed by Moses into the Holy Place is the seven-branched Lampstand. It is this lampstand that provides all the light found in the Holy Place, which we are translating into the Church.

The oil and light of the Lampstand represent the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church. John, however, saw the Lampstand as representing each local church.

Lesson 18.1 The Light of the World expands on Jesus' claim that not only He is the light of the cosmos, but we together as the Church are the light of the cosmos as well. The fullest definition of "light" is God seen and known by all.

Lesson 18.2 The Anointing Oil explores the role of the Holy Spirit in and among believers as the anointing that gives understanding and power inside the gathering together of the church.

Lesson 18.3 Patterns of Light refers back to the text Patterns of Home to shape a discussion of how light works in the Church and in the world. Light is how we see one another as Jesus Himself.
