28.3 I in You

I want to talk about that first period of time in which you found yourself entirely inside of Jesus, inside the Holiest, one flesh with the Lord Jesus, Christ Himself now living as you.

Now that you were living entirely and only inside of the Lord Jesus Christ, inside of John 14:20, having stepped through the cross in confidence, you realized that knowing this Christ was now your entire pursuit. Yes, Jesus had become you, and knowing what that really meant consumed the passion of your heart.

You knew that Gethsemane was fulfilled inside of you, that all that you are, including your sin and your shame, existed only inside of Jesus. Now you longed to know how every element of the Atonement had become a description of you.

The Cross. Having stepped through the cross, now you knew it as your precious guardian, your barrier against all sin and accusation. Yet the cross was not separate from Jesus, but rather, an integral part of His Person, doing its work quietly, in the background, so to speak.

You were hit with much accusation through this time; you were now a target of the evil one, a threat to his continuance. Yet you learned to put all of your own personal awfulness into the Lord Jesus, knowing that He shares everything with you. You learned to hear Him say to you, “This is My own frustration that I am sharing with you. Let’s together place our shared difficulty into the Father’s love.”

Perfect Rest. And when you did something you knew was wrong, you did not hold onto it or call it your own, but you placed it entirely into Jesus dead upon the cross. You would not listen to any voice of accusation; you knew that Jesus was all there was in you.

Through much opposition you entered into His perfect rest.

Then the Lord Jesus showed you the tiny little room where He kept all the sin and shame you gave to Him, a room guarded absolutely by the cross. You looked, and there was nothing there; it was an empty grave. Turning from that empty grave, you began to walk in no consciousness of sins, no thought of ever “falling short” of God.

The Blood. The accusation still came, though you would not hear it. You could not see any charge laid against you because your eyes were covered with blood. Everything you saw, you saw through blood.

You remembered how you once “plead the blood,” unable to believe, and you laughed with joy knowing that finally, the blood was real to you. You no longer had to pretend to be “holy”; you could just be yourself. And as you learned to enjoy Christ as you, the things you once did that hurt other people began to diminish. You no longer needed to “defend yourself”; the blood continuously carried away all consciousness of sins.

The Water. And you began to enjoy life as you never had before, the simple things of regular human life each day. You knew that you were washed with pure water, not just your physical body, but all of your natural life was clean in God’s sight. You knew that what God had cleansed could not be called unclean.

You no longer “sought for” the “presence” of God. You knew that you were in Christ and Christ in you, regardless. When you forgot, you simply rejoiced in Christ as you. You learned to believe that what God says is, actually, true.

But then a stirring came to you, no longer the barrier you had known before, but a reaching forward to the next joy of knowing Jesus.

Speaking Christ as Bread. You heard the words, “Speak Christ. Speak what God says you are.” And you began to speak Christ personal as yourself.

You spent many tear-filled times seeing the Lord Jesus in every moment of your past, there with you, living as you, carrying even your wrongful actions entirely inside Himself. You knew He did not intend the evil things you did, but He intended you, and bore even that wrong action as His own. At the same time, you spoke all of Christ as He is now, all the story of His life, all through your own present story.
Through this wonderful season in your life, your story and Jesus’ story became so intertwined that, looking across your days, all you could see was one seamless story of Christ.

Speaking Christ as Light. At times you wondered, “Did I miss out because of my inability to respond to God?” But you spoke the answer yourself: “God always leads me in triumph. All of His ways concerning me are perfect. He has never led me wrong. He has never not led me.”

At the same time, you learned to be honest and real. You realized that “walking in the light” had nothing to do with pretending that you were holy. Rather, it simply meant to be honest in all things. When you treated someone badly, it was no longer a problem to say, “I’m sorry, please forgive me. I was wrong.” The honesty of light released you from all your former falseness.

Speaking Christ as Incense. As you continued to speak Christ as your only life, you found yourself speaking goodness into others. You found faith for others you never had before, but different as well. You KNEW that the Spirit of Christ was always going out from you, blessing and healing and giving life and joy.

And so you simply loved people and delighted in them. People were touched by the reality of Jesus through you and were not put off by any hint of religiosity.

Yet again, a new desire arose in you, a longing to know the Lord Jesus as you never had before. You knew that Christ is the Redeemer, and that God was also in you, reconciling the world to Himself.

The Mercy Seat. The day came when you suddenly saw your next step in God. You saw the Mercy Seat, as God means it; you saw the reality of sharing Hheart with God. And you were stricken with fear, for you KNEW that this place of Mercy was Holy and not to be used for foolishness.

You heard the Father speaking in your own heart. “Will you be My Mercy towards others? Will you share heart with Me?” In agony and joy, you began to draw that which offends into Love inside your heart, the throne of heaven, the Mercy Seat of God. And there above the Blood sprinkled on your heart, you released the offender and set him or her free of you. You knew the power of God in a way you never knew before.

Turned Around. As you said, “Yes,” to Father and as you began to share His Heart, you saw all the difficulties in your life, every circumstance, even every mistake you made, as Father sharing His travail for others with you. Together with Father, you turned your agony into precious fruit for others, entirely by faith, by knowing Father with you.

As you made that agreement with Father as the Lord Jesus in you, something incredible happened to you. In that moment, it was not just you inside of Jesus, there in Gethsemane and through every step of the Atonement, but now it was that same redeeming Jesus inside of you. You had turned around. No longer were you “going into God.” Now it was Father entering His creation through you.

You, Now as Christ. You now knew that it was not just you inside of Jesus, as precious as that reality continues to be even now, but it was also Jesus inside of you. You understood the words, “As He is, so are we in this world” in an entirely new light. You knew that you were the embodiment of Christ Jesus Himself, expressing Himself through you entirely as He wishes.

You had become the Ark of the Covenant and the Covenant was written all through the pathways of your heart. You knew Jesus now as a Personal Spirit Word, still human, yet in the form of a Life-giving Spirit. You knew your heart as the Lord Jesus. And you knew God was in you reconciling the world to Himself.

Christ the Sustaining One. You were no longer in any way dependent on your feelings or on human judgment to know God. The Word God speaks had become sufficient for you. You needed NO outward demonstration to KNOW that God shared every circumstance with you, regardless, and that you and Father together turned all things towards good. You saw your daily human circumstances in an entirely different light, as the travail of God for others.

And you knew Christ Jesus as the Sustaining One, the Word of power out from which all things are continuously generated. Not just all things in you, but you saw Him sustaining all things in your world. You looked out and saw the passion of His heart.

Christ, the Redeeming One. You looked out and you knew the Desire of the Lord Jesus towards His Church, that she might know Father as you were beginning to know Father. And you looked within and knew the purpose of your own Heart where Christ dwells, the tablets of the Covenant, the Mercy Seat of God.

Christ, the Redeeming One, now Himself in you, with His face set on one thing alone, winning the hearts of His own ones to believe entirely in Him. In this is love, that He laid down His life for us, AND WE ALSO are committed to lay down our lives for the brethren. What does it mean, Father, for me to lay down my life as Jesus for the brethren – became the guiding question of your life.

Christ, the Connecting One. You sought to go out among your brethren to share the wondrous joy of complete union with Christ, but the Lord restrained you.

“First, you must know Father, for it is Father who does the work,” Jesus whispered as you. “Know Me now as the Connecting One, for I connect you with Father in every way. I am the Energeia, the mighty prevailing power, binding you to Father and Father to you. You must know what that means.”

And so you waited, with the full scope, in your eyes and understanding, of the Kingdom of God flowing out from you, so that you might KNOW first your Covenant with God. You must know how you were related to Father.

The Purpose of God. When you knew that you were IN Jesus, you knew that He had become you. Now that you knew that Jesus was in you, that your heart was Jesus Himself, you knew that you had become Him.

The first part of Father with which you contended was being the Purpose of God, the Pattern of Jesus, now through you. You knew that agony of Father’s heart, a God who is Love and must love, an invisible God who cannot be seen or touched.

God’s purpose was to enter into His creation as part of His creation that He might be seen and known by all. You had become more than the Mercy Seat; you were the tip point of the Fire that is God, the visible expression of God-love inside of His creation yet remaining fully human as yourself.

The Knowing of God. Just as you knew Jesus as the spoken Word coming out from Father, so now you knew Father as an infinite number of infinite thoughts regarding all. And one of that infinite number of infinite thoughts was God’s throughs concerning you, an unending unfolding of life.

You finally understood that “eternal life” was, in fact, age-unfolding life, the unfolding of God’s thoughts as you in every present moment and in every circumstance of your daily human life. Your own life, you now as Jesus, was without end inside of God. As you rested in Jesus, you were the becoming of all of God’s thoughts concerning you, each in its season, and entirely through your faith.

The Determination of God. Then Jesus, as the Connecting One, took you into the fiery Passion and overwhelming Determination of a God who WILL win His purpose, who will bring His Church into LIFE. The zeal for God’s House, your brethren, the Church, began to eat you up. You had become the Highway of God, His path into His creation, that He might seize His people into life.

The purpose of your own heart as the Mercy Seat of God, the throne of heaven, became far more intense. Yet you remained in perfect peace as a human inside of Jesus. You knew that your every difficulty had become the very travail of Father to win His Church to Himself.

Symmorphosed. You knew God now as a Symmorphic God. You knew that Father Himself lived entirely inside of you through Jesus, not just as you, but also you as Him. Just as Jesus is in the Father, so you are in the Father. And just as the Father is in Jesus, so the Father is in you.

The realization that you ARE just like Jesus in all ways, even in your present human limitations, became certain and final. – He humbled Himself. – To call forth an invisible God into being seen and known by all through you requires one thing. – He humbled Himself.

My people, My people, My Beloved in her hour of greatest need – Do you see her, will you give yourself for her?

Christ’s Beloved. And you saw the Church of God, Christ’s Beloved all across the earth, the very face and image of God to all creation.

Yet you knew her present outward appearance, scattered and frightened, boastful and self-righteous, staggering under the gospel of the serpent, driven by an arrogant Christ.

She was a harlot, the very Bride of Jesus, kept out from God by the preachers of unbelief, weeping before the cross, refusing to enter into Christ.

Then you understood the immense importance of your own journey into the knowledge of God, for as you loved Jesus even in your willful ignorance, so also do all these many who also belong to Jesus, each one carried by a stumbling Jesus, carried by Father, all the way into life.

A Fifth Decision. Now that you knew Jesus as your Connection in all ways with Father, now that you knew yourself as Jesus through you, you were finally ready to go to Church. Yet the decision to go to Church remained your own. You are always free in God to know Him as you wish and to wander inside the knowledge of God through any fields of delight you could find.

When Jesus asked you if He could be your salvation, you said, “Yes.” When Jesus asked you to immerse you in His Spirit, you said, “Yes.” When Jesus asked you if He could be your only life, you said, “Yes.” When Jesus asked you to be the Mercy Seat of God towards others, you said, “Yes.”

A fifth time Jesus asked, “Will you be Me towards My Church?”

The Fifth Signature. “Will you sign your name upon Me a fifth time, even as I have signed My Name and My Father’s Name upon you? Will you love My Church? Will you lay down your life for her? Will you commit your entire future to being as Me to My people?

“Will you love one another?”

Out of the depths of your complete trust in God, out of your knowing of Father’s knowing of you, out of the faith of the Son of God, now through you, you gave answer. “Yes, Lord. I will be as You towards our Church, towards all who call upon You in some way.

“I love our people; I lay down my life for them. I go to Church.”
