4.2 The High Priest

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession (Hebrews 4:14).
Soon after this statement, the writer of Hebrews said this: You have come to need milk and not solid food (5:12b). Most “deeper truth” Christians use this “milk versus meat” comparison as the “milk” referring to just trusting in the grace of redemption and the “meat” referring to our own full obedience in all things. Yet not one of them ever obeyed God, in spite of all their boasting of self-righteousness, for they failed to put on Christ. “Milk” versus “meat” begins with our conception of God.
Conceptualizing God. Seeing God through the lens of the serpent creates the utterly childish view of God held by almost all Christians I have known, especially by those who wax eloquent in the exposition of “deeper truth.”
Thus in entering into LIFE, that is, knowing God and knowing Jesus Sent, we constantly ask the questions, What is God? And What is Christ? Although both of those questions are appropriate for us, neither one is in the Bible. The Bible poses only two questions. What is man? And, Who do you say that I am?
And thus we will paraphrase Hebrews 4:14 out from our seeing of God as adults, able to conceptualize beyond the concrete.
Continuously Coming to Us. Possessing as our own a superior High Priest, who is continuously coming to us through the heavens, that is, as a life-giving Spirit, Jesus, the becoming known of Father, we speak firmly whom we say Jesus is, “Jesus, You are become me.”
Now, the Greek verbs here are fascinating. “Passing through” is dierchomai, combining into one word the two words, “come” and “through,” as in “No one comes to the Father except through me.” And “let us hold fast” is krateo, to rule, to seize control of. Seize control of what? – homologia, speaking the same word. The Bible translators want to say, “speaking in agreement with other Christians ABOUT a – faraway – God.”
Speaking the Same Words. To speak in agreement together with other Christians theological things about a faraway God is to live in unbelief and to walk according to the flesh.
Jesus is the All-Speaking of God. Jesus is the Word coming, every moment, out of God’s mouth, coming to us through the Spirit and as a life-giving Spirit filled with Word. It is with the Word God speaks that we speak together, speaking the same Word. The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus (Romans 10:8b-9a).
Same word – homologeo (verb), speak the same words together.
The Same Word Jesus Is. I will speak together with you and you with me ONLY as we are speaking together with the Lord Jesus, coming continuously to us as a life-giving Spirit, that is, Spirit filled with Word. Believe that I am in the Father and the Father in Me – KNOW that I am in the Father and you in Me and I in you.
And thus, in every aspect and particular of Jesus as our High Priest, we think only of this One who lives in our hearts, who is the present all-speaking of God, and with Whom we speak together, speaking in all ways the SAME Word that Jesus is. And thus the Covenant written ALIVE upon our hearts is the very same LIFE we have covenanted with God to obtain.
A Life-Giving Spirit. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit (1 Corinthian 15:45). As Jesus closed out all that was Adam, He Himself became a HUMAN life-giving Spirit. You see, the biggest question of all is the one David asked – WHAT IS MAN? – For you have made Him only a little lower than God (– in the original Hebrew).
Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God (Hebrews 2:17). The English “in things pertaining to” gives a very shallow and childish view of the Greek meaning. The Greek word means “a continuous interaction and reciprocity between” God and us.
Spirit Word. What is Jesus as a life-giving Spirit existing as this continuous energetic and active BOND connecting Father and us together in every moment?
Writing Lesson 6.1 A Spirit Word in Symmorphy III: Kingdom again altered forever my knowledge of God as He is. We understand in our day as never before what Spirit Word is. We live constantly in a bath of radio, television, and cell-phone frequencies and we understand perfectly how that whole concept works. Those frequencies carry inside themselves a complete communication filled with words and sounds, pictures and stories, movies and programs.
Singing Along. People driving in their cars like to “TUNE INTO” a specific frequency (spirit) carrying words and music, and then to sing along with all gusto those same words. I watched two girls behind me in my mirror; they were singing along with a pop music song as if they were the ones on the stage rocking out the lyrics. They put on quite a show.
We know all about tuning into the frequency of our choice and singing along with the words as if those words were our own. Jesus is our life-giving Spirit in exactly the same way. We tune into the continuous flow of the Spirit filled with Words, a Personal Jesus, a human just like us, and we sing those same words as our very own.
Individual Frequencies. If every individual on earth possessed a cell phone, an easily conceivable possibility, then every person would have their own personal frequency connection carrying to themselves precisely those channels with which they would connect. Your cell phone does not connect to my frequency nor to anyone else's, but only to your own. In fact, I can talk with you and you with me via cell phone, only if a mediator connects our frequencies together. You can watch entire movies, entire life stories, coming through your own individual frequency. Yet the technology to create full 3-D hologram personal involvement with the story coming through the frequency is at hand and will soon become available to all. We understand these things.
Singing the Same Song. And it is the “mediator” that connects the frequencies containing the movies or programs or conversations you wish to participate in to your own personal cell-phone frequency. You can connect, with your cell-phone, to millions of different frequency possibilities. You can sing any song you wish.
Even more than that, we understand, then, the concept of harmony, of two frequencies or sounds harmonizing together until the two become the same sound. Thus we see that Jesus in our mouth becomes our own acknowledgement of the good things of Christ inside of us, in tune to the same Spirit, singing the same song.
An Epistle of Christ. Clearly you are an epistle of Christ written with the Spirit of the living God on the tablets of the heart (2 Corinthians 3:3 condensed). These words go deeper than we have ever known or considered and they do so forever. These words are Covenant.
I testify to you of Christ, that my consciousness is changing as I have spoken and written Christ as the only life I am over these last ten years, and especially over the last couple of years since I started writing these Symmorphy texts. Consciousness is spirit word, the story we tell ourselves about ourselves inside the spirit in which we choose to live. It does little good to say, “I am in Christ, not a false spirit” and then to continue singing the songs of the cursing of this world.
The Word Made Flesh. But as we speak Christ inside the frequency of Spirit Word that He is, singing the same words in perfect harmony with Him, we become the Word made flesh again on this earth. This fact is just simple and fully understandable reality.
Now consider the geography of this life-giving Spirit, that is Jesus coming to us every moment as Spirit Words, that He is ALL HERE NOW. Now, Jesus said “The words that I speak to you, from Myself not I speak” (John 14:10 in the order of the Greek words). What He means is that the Father is the source of those words. Then, homologeo means that we speak the same words coming out of Father together with Jesus.
The Action of the High Priest. And finally, the action of the High Priest (poorly translated as “the things pertaining to”) is the continuous interface, back and forth, between the Words of Spirit Consciousness coming out of Father echoed in full harmony with the words of spirit consciousness coming out of us.
And yet all of this, in spite all the technical and Biblical terminology, is utterly personal, Daniel>Jesus<Father, and the same with you. Let’s make a diagram of that “formula.” The intention of the diagram is to show the continuous action that is the nature of this High Priest who is the Bond of our Covenant with God.Beyond All. This lesson, however, is not focused on the action of Jesus, but rather on what He is that He is able to function in this role. And we think of Jesus as He is entirely inside of Paul’s statement of the Covenant: Clearly you are an epistle of Christ written with the Spirit of the living God on the tablets of the heart.
And as we speak ONLY what God speaks about Himself, erasing from our minds all the convoluted arguments of a humanoid and limited “God the Son,” our perception of Jesus becomes free to change into what He actually IS. And what Jesus IS goes beyond all mind-boggling. And there is only one way to knowing Him – to speak all that Christ is as ourselves.
Jesus IS. Jesus IS every Word coming every moment out of the pro-knowing Heart of God. Jesus IS that same Spirit Word written upon our hearts.
Jesus IS utterly human, but existing only in the form of a life-giving Spirit, coming always to us.
Jesus IS, then, all the many upon whose hearts He is written, thus Jesus, the only-conceived, the One Seed, is the many-born, as the stars of the heavens for number.
Jesus IS a specific Person, our dearest and closest Friend.
And Jesus IS the Bond of the Covenant, connecting us as one Pperson with our Father, the Bond of Symmorphy, the Will in-between, causing our will and God’s will to be the same.
Our High Priest. Jesus IS our High Priest.
I have not spent much time considering the garments and role of the High Priest. The most important part of those garments is the breastplate carrying upon his heart the stones of the twelve tribes of Israel, signifying our High Priest who carries us utterly inside His own Heart and out from Gethsemane.
In the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest who has come… according to the power of an endless life (Hebrews 7:15-16 condensed). By so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant (Hebrews 7:22).
Saved to All Perfection. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Hebrews 7:25). “Since He always lives,” then, is the continuous bath of Spirit Word in which we live and Who fills our hearts with a continuous flow of Spirit Word, the very Words of God.
Wow, what a verse that has been so badly corrupted and miss-defined in the thinking of Christianity! “Saved to the uttermost” could just as well be translated as “saved to all perfection,” or “saved to all of God’s fullest end result for us” (hint – John 17:21-23). And remember that we are saved by His LIFE, the very possession we have covenanted with God to win for ourselves.
Always Hitting the Target. “To make intercession.” And this is where Christian “seeing” becomes a complete caricature of nonsense (a faraway Jesus pleading with God to keep Him from destroying us). “To make intercession” is an incredibly poor translation of the Greek, indeed it breaks entirely the flow of meaning going on into the next sentence. We must place two words in parallel to understand what our High Priest is continuously doing inside of us as He causes us to be utterly perfected in our full Covenant with the Father.
Entygxánō: in all that obtaining the prize by hitting the mark might mean. Used for an archer whose arrow hits the bull’s eye.
Hamartanó: to miss the mark, used for an archer whose arrow fails to hit the target, typically translated as “SIN.”
As the Father Wishes. The ACTION of our High Priest filling our Hearts with all that He is, that action is to cause us always to hit the mark, to live entirely inside exactly what the Father wishes, and entirely by living as us. This “intercession” is not a substitution. Jesus does not “hit the mark” “for” us in spite of our “not hitting the mark.”
Being saved to all perfection by His life means that Jesus is now living as us perfectly as the Father wishes in every step we take in every up and down we go through, in ALL things. We, then, are the intercession of God for all. All of our distresses are God through us for the sake of others. Thus we see that the next verse is the same thought continued.
The Bonding Will. Let me try a paraphrase to get the full meaning of Hebrews 7:25-26).
Therefore, as we come into this Covenant with God through the Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus is well able to connect us to the Father in all perfection (– I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one –), since He lives as them causing them always to hit the mark, (to be the will of God proven through their bodies) – for such a holy, harmless, and undefiled High Priest fits us perfectly, separating us from all thought of missing the will of God (and thus allowing us to walk only in the knowledge of God through us.)
Jesus IS “Thy will be done” as all that we presently are. Jesus is the Bonding Will of Symmorphy.
