21. The Ekenosis

The Ekenosis is the transformation of God by which He becomes part of His creation, that He might be seen and known by all; it is the means by which God enters into His creation to become visible and tangible in heaven and earth.

The Ekenosis is God made flesh, first through Jesus and now through us together.

This process is the most Holy experience in the human story; it is the wondrous treasure of sharing heart with God. Yet it becomes part of our lives only through great pressures and travail, a travail shared entirely with the Spirit of God.

Lesson 21.1 Placing the Ekenosis first defines the Ekenosis, showing its central place in the New Testament. The lesson then includes Annie Schissler's vision, "That Holy Thing," to give a picture of this incredible thing that is happening to us.

Lesson 21.2 Knowing the Ekenosis stresses the vital importance of our confidence that God indeed shares all things with us, walking with us as one person together. Only by this confidence does our faith connect with a God of travail.

Lesson 21.3 Living as the Ekenosis explores what it might mean for us together to be the manifestation of God in the flesh, for Father HImself to make Himself known to all creation through us.
