8. Protecting the Heart

The pattern of home called "inhabiting the site" has shown us that a good architect picks out the best part of any site and then builds everything around that best site to protect it untouched by any construction. The best part of the site then becomes the valued view out from all the built parts of the site.

For that reason, this "heart of the site" is never built upon; it is not used as the foundation of anything constructed.

Friendship is the precious fruit of life together. That is why we protect it and never build anything upon it. Life together is built upon definition foundations, but friendship is the protected heart of God's Home.

Lesson 8.1 Friendship defines friendship, both by the dictionary, and as Jesus called us His friends. The lesson then shows how friendship with God and with one another is the protected heart of God's dwelling place.

Lesson 8.2 Koinonia lays out the relationship between three almost identical terms, koinia, Greek, communion, Latin, and fellowship, Anglo Saxon. We are using the term koninia to refer to the larger picture, our full union with Christ.

Lesson 8.3 Communion, then, presents that precious communion that is at the heart of union – communion – expression. This sacred communion is found primarily inside of eating together and worshipping together.

Lesson 8.4 Fellowship looks at the practical expressions of our friendship together inside of the larger Community of Christ. This friendship with Father and Son howing itself as friendship with one another is the rich joy found at the protected heart of life together.
